An international car company has provided some of its modern models with an additional pedal next to the basic pedals in the car, which sparked the curiosity of many to know the function of this new car part.
Where one company revealed that the reason behind adding this part to the car is to increase the capabilities of the braking system or brakes in cars, which is known as “emergency or parking brake”.
One of the officials indicated that the emergency brake stabilizes the wheels of the car while waiting on the sloped roads, and it also helps the brake system in the car to perform its task quickly, which works to stop the car in less time.
He added that the emergency brake cannot perform the basic brake function in the car, especially when driving at high speeds, and the reason for this is due to the fact that the emergency brake is connected to the rear braking system, which is not equivalent in strength to the front brake system.
It is worth noting that these brakes can replace the hand brake, and many German cars have become highly dependent on them with their modern batteries.
