The Integra marks a return to form for the compact Acura after the disappointing ILX sedan. Driving is now fun, reasonably quick and more spacious. The 2023 Acura Integra is built in Marysville, Ohio, along with the Acura TLX.
The new 2023 Acura Integra
The Acura Integra was first launched in 1986, and was introduced into the RSX for the 2002 model year, before production of the RSX was suspended in 2006. Acura still uses similar three-letter naming conventions across the lineup (TLX, RDX, MDX, NSX), while Integra kept its own historical name.
It equips the Acura Integra with several driver-assist features, including standard automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control, and active lane control. It hasn’t been crash-tested yet, but 2022 Honda Civic-related crash tests are from NHTSA and IIHS.
The exterior design of the 2023 Acura Integra
Acura shines in good design, and it has a family look that fits well with the Integra compact hatchback. And it adopts current Acura design cues while incorporating some nods that nod to its past. And the 2023 Acura Integra has a gradual slope that makes it look like a fastback or even a sedan. The brand’s tapered nose, five-sided grille and pronounced body creases blend well with the hatchback’s sporty look.
With the brand’s five-sided grille at the front and the familiar creases along the body. The rear end pays homage to the earlier RSX and Integra, but the gradual slope of the intake gives the car a fastback look rather than the pure hatchback styling of the past. The “Pentagon Grille” sits proudly up front. Flanking the grille are a pair of “Jewel Eye” LED headlamps that match the brand’s signature “Chicane” LED daytime running lights.
It also has an elegant profile thanks to its clean sheet metal and sloping roofline, giving it a fastback rear end. Oh, and it’s sedan-like with a distinctly rounded end, like the Kia Stinger and any number of Audis. Like the Acura TLX, the Integra has a long dash-to-axle ratio with a low hood and long hood that dips into its crest-style grille. The front fascia is crowded with wrinkles and cuts, and the flush lights create a distinctive shape at the corners that Acura calls “Chicane.”
The 2023 Acura Integra’s rear end is different from other Acuras. The squat vent sits atop the dual tailpipes, matching Chicane LED taillights at the rear. It’s nearly the same height as the redesigned 2022 Honda Civic, but it’s slightly wider and an inch longer than the Civic Si sedan.
Powertrain for the 2023 Acura Integra
The new 2023 Acura Integra is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, in which the Honda Civic Si participates, and produces 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque, and this power is available at revs from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm.
Steering power is sent to the front wheels, via a continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual, but you can only get the popular A-Spec stick with the Technology package. And Acura says 65% of pre-orders are for manual-equipped cars.

Naturally, I chose to spend most of my testing days in the manual spec A package with the tech. The transmission’s superior feel and the clutch pedal are lightweight and easy to adjust, make driving both engaging and fun. Automatic RPM matching for lower gears is also included.
It works fine, but you can turn it off – which is good for people like me who like to do their own heel-toe pedal dancing. However, I would have liked a slightly quicker throttle response to help with the downshift.
Driving impressions of the 2023 Acura Integra
Currently, the Integra engine generates 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, mated to a variable transmission with paddle shifters as standard. A 6-speed manual transmission is available, and it comes with a helical limited-slip differential for added stability in and out of corners. Three drive modes add some variation to throttle response and steering heaviness.
The 2023 Acura Integra shares independent suspension components with the Civic, as well as MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup in the rear. And unlike the redesigned Civic, the Integra comes with A-Spec adaptive dampers with the Technology package. The 2023 Acura Integra has a connected, intrinsic road feel teamed with agile movements that give it stability.
The speed of the 2023 Acura Integra
It’s fairly fast. And the 2023 Acura Integra takes a 0-60 mph time in the mid-6 second range. That power is easier to tap into with the six-speed manual transmission available on the top trim. It has short, positive throws through its light-touch transmission, and the clutch is also light and easy to adjust.
The other option is a CVT transmission with seven simulated gear ratios. The transmission wiggles while shifting its stepped gear when pressed, although the transmission’s sport mode is in normal city commuting, but it makes the CVT fade into the background and won’t annoy or please drivers.
Suspension of the 2022 Acura Integra
Feeling behind the wheel is the 2023 Acura Integra’s greatest strength, especially in the A-Spec with Technology Package model with adaptive dampers. And Acura managed to balance ride quality and agility just right.
The 2023 Acura Integra feels so grounded that it feels heavier than its sub-3,100-pound weight would suggest. The adaptive dampers smooth out bumps, even in Sport mode, while contributing to the vehicle’s agility.
The handling and stability of the 2023 Acura Integra
While it’s fun to throw the 2023 Acura Integra on a twisty road, even with the lighter feel and less entwined with the base cars. Dampers play an important role. Without them, the 2023 Acura Integra wouldn’t be a performance car.
The Integra has 235/40R18 tires with good grip that keep it nimble in turns, and the brakes are a tad small for long periods of canyon-carving or track driving. The good suspension helps it absorb bumps.
Interior cabin design for the 2023 Acura Integra
The switch to a hatchback body style is a boon for the interior space of the 2023 Acura Integra. The cabin benefits from comfortable front seats and a spacious rear cargo area, but the rear seat has issues despite plenty of legroom.
The interior fuses Acura’s elegant layered instrument cluster and sleek 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster with the aluminum air vents that work so well in the Civic, accentuated by the climate control dials. The infotainment interface with Acura’s touchpad is not welcome, as a touchscreen is used instead. With a subdued appearance of ebony material, but the hues of Orchid, Graystone and especially Red add contrast and visual vibrancy.
Comfort and driving position in the 2023 Acura Integra
The longer wheelbase and the switch to a hatchback body style improve interior space. It almost doubles the luggage space, and the rear seat adds legroom compared to its predecessor, but it’s still not comfortable. Acura fits the ILX with well-bolstered seats with standard eight-way power adjustments for the driver.
The A-Spec option adds four lumbar adjustments for better back support, and 4-way power basic passenger seat adjustments. The front row has good space in all dimensions for the driver and larger or smaller passenger.
The spaciousness and spaciousness of the cabin of the 2023 Acura Integra
The back seat features a generous 37.4 inches of legroom, but the seat bottoms are set quite low to provide the thigh support needed for long-haul comfort. The Integra seats five, but the Integra isn’t roomy enough for three adults to fit comfortably in the back.

Rejoice, because the 2023 Acura Integra has a touchscreen instead of Acura’s somewhat disappointing infotainment interface. Yes, the primary screen is small and even the 9.0-inch screen seems small these days. But the two screens are set closer to the driver and easier to control. I loved it, but we only used Apple CarPlay. But you need some time to live with Integra longer.
Inside, Yes, Integra refused to adopt the brand’s infotainment interface, granting an easier-to-use touchscreen instead. The screen starts at 7.0 inches, and a 9.0-inch version is available. The screen sits atop an attractive multi-layered instrument cluster and is matched by a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an available 5.3-inch head-up display.
