The exterior design of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The exterior design of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport follows a similar philosophy to that of the new Range Rover. Every surface is smooth, closing lines are narrow, and elements such as the door handles and headlight clusters align perfectly with the bodywork. Land Rover says its signature LED headlights are the slimmest it’s ever used, and they’re surrounded by a restrained grille in the era of big grilles.

Flowing glass, a laser-welded roof, and wheel sizes starting at 21 inches give the profile a sophisticated look. And the reverse side is perhaps the most controversial. The number plate has been moved down, and the slimmer taillights merge with a horizontal stripe bearing the wording “Range Rover”. Accompanied by mild hybrid assistance, it produces 355 horsepower, with 369 lb-ft of torque, and can propel the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Dubbed the P400, it’s the same engine but tuned to make 395 bhp and 406 lb-ft, reducing the 0-60 mph time to 5.4 seconds.

The third engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid six-cylinder, known as the P440e. It makes 434 horsepower, it’s much more powerful and it generates 619 lb-ft of torque, but it’s actually a tenth of a second slower than the P400 engine when accelerating to 60 mph due to the car’s heavier weight.

For now, the final choice for the powertrain is an engine called the P530 found in the first model, a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 derived from a BMW engine. It generates 523 hp and 553 lb-ft. The V8 engine makes the Land Rover Range Rover Sport look like an armed car, and with this engine, the new Range Rover Sport only needs 4.3 seconds to reach 60 mph.
All models use a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
