Introducing the new Eleventh Generation Honda Civic Fantastically with more of what we love, and less of what we don’t.
$21,700The 2022 Honda Civic sedan starts at $21,700, and the redesigned Civic Hatchback starts at $22,900. These prices are a little above average for the compact car class. Three higher sedan trims retail for $23,100, $24,700, and $28,300, while three higher hatchback trims start at $24,100, $26,600, and $29,400.
Honda ‘s
announcement of a next -generation car
late last year surprised us: although we’re still so fascinated by the 10th-generation Civic in all its forms that its inevitable replacement hasn’t even occurred to us.
days, until the orange and bronze Honda Civic sedan prototype was introduced in November 2020.
Honda Civic in attractive colors and quiet designThe prototype was just an aperitif.
After spending some time recently on the production version of the new 2022 Honda Civic sedan, we’re excited to be on the lookout for the new Japanese bread and butter.
Really, no exaggeration really: Almost every complaint about the current Civic’s exterior or interior design – and we’ve had very few complaints – is addressed by the 2022 restyling, which also retains much of what we love about the outgoing car.
Honda Civic and staying ahead of slowing sales
A new look that will increase its sales in the new generationHonda acknowledges that the new Civic has not been critical to its business at the moment.
The 10th-generation Civic surged even on shaky 2020 sales conditions, capturing 27 percent of the market share compared to 25 percent for 2019. But the 11th generation goes a long way in correcting the car’s polarizing design.
Let’s think of it as an aesthetic transformation likely to pay more dividends than sales.
I fell into a confusion of colors with Honda CivicAesthetically speaking, the 2022 Honda Civic is a huge improvement.
Where the previous car’s insect corner, Gundam-style, was a love-or-hate design, we’re not upset to see the new version bring the Civic back to its reserved, clean roots.
The sleek new shape pulls smoothly full of stylistic inspiration close to the Accord, retaining the exterior of the Fastback while smoothing more of the scalloped edges.
It’s our favorite change?
And no more massive “crab-claw” taillights, they are now replaced by the traditional, integrated 2022 Civic design.
Civic is smoother, sleeker and sportier

Honda does not hesitate to distance itself from the new Tokyo vibe of the 10th generation Civic.
The press releases accompanying the release of most of the redesigned cars reinforce the pioneering and revolutionary new designs.
Indeed, in the eyes of the PR-heavy automakers, even the most casual and segmented members of the lineup find them to be rolling sculptures.
Honda Tido is different, though, and it’s straightforward with regard to the 2022 Civic: It describes the new exterior as “simple and clean” and the quiet interiors as “a surprisingly simple, clean, modern take on classic civic values.”
We’re ticklish to report that the 10th-generation Civic’s excellent bones are still less than the latest model, but that doesn’t mean this is a copy/paste job, or that Honda simply tried to smash a piece of clay and rebuild it in what looks like modeling on the current version to smooth it out.

Looking less slender is no cheap stunt.
The A-pillars have been pushed back about 2 inches, with the front beltline lowered by about an inch to give the visual effect of a longer cowl.
Compared to the current Civic, the 2022 Civic sedan retains the same width and height, but has added an extra 1.3 inches in overall length and 1.4 inches to the wheelbase.
in the rear, while the area under the C-pillar drops about 1.2 inches.

Modern interior design for Civic
Honda calls this growing emphasis on minimalism the “maximum man, minimum machine” philosophy, or M/M for short. This philosophy may seem complex but you can see it best in the new interior, a delightfully modern space that owes much of its design Linear and airy for the compact and cool Honda e.

And the version sold outside the United States.
The steering wheel has been designed with a thin-rimmed edge and is fitted with an elegant unbroken strip of the hexagonal honeycomb grille that extends across the dashboard, elegantly concealing the air vents behind its grille.

The trim lineup is the same as on the outgoing Civic.
Jet starts with LX and moves up through Sport, EX and Tourin.
One of the biggest areas of improvement for 2022 is the Tech, as the standard touchscreen infotainment system has been expanded from 5 to 7 inches, all with Android Auto and is also equipped with Apple CarPlay.

And most of the segment’s great tech is locked behind the Touring, including a 9.0-inch infotainment screen and Qi wireless device charging, all working alongside a Bose premium sound system with a 10.2-inch LCD digital instrument cluster—both of which are theirs. Civilian priorities.
And yes, every new Civic once again has a knob for controlling volume and tuning.

daily driver
This car should be as good as it looks, too.
We adore the excellent fitment of the current Civic’s chassis and making sure it’s class-leading no matter what the trim configuration.
The new show looks like the 2022 Civic has simply raised the bar for our song’s version to make it a favourite,

Based on the tenth generation platform.
Honda claims an 8 percent increase in torsional stiffness and a 13 percent increase in bending stiffness, which complements new low-friction ball joints on the front MacPherson struts and front damper bearings.
The new front subframe is also lighter and stiffer.
And the rear track was widened by 0.5 inches for added stability.
Along with the modified damping of the suspension “brakes” at the front and rear, the power steering has been recalibrated for more responsiveness, according to Honda.
So, I expect the new car to run better, starting with the basic version.

However, you should not expect any new discoveries about the powertrain.
The familiar 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four cylinders on LX and Sport models all deliver the same 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque as before.

The turbocharged 1.5-liter
four-cylinder also returns , bumping it up from 174 horsepower and 162 pound-feet to 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, and running together in tandem with VTEC variable valve timing integration.
Regardless of design or engine, all Civic sedans come with the same continuously variable transmission.
This does not mean that we live in the same old version of the engine, because Honda has revised both the programming and the internal hardware.
Depending on the model, fuel economy remains the same or improves across the board, with increases of between 1 and 2 mpg.

There is no manual transmission at the moment
Sorry, manual transmission enthusiasts- there are no more Civic coupe copies left, and at the moment, there is no manual transmission.
But it pays to be patient.
Honda has officially announced future plans for both the Si and Type R – with three pedals – and a five-door hatch similar to the current Civic hatchback.
And if you can’t wait to see it, change up and head for hot Hondas like the mid-level Sport or High-End Class, as that’s the only way to get the new Sport driving mode that raises the CVT’s shift points and throttle mapping.

Get
a little hot like me as you explore new cars, and soon you’ll be experiencing Honda’s new airbag design that aims to reduce the amount of cranial shocks sometimes caused by an airbag impact.
And maybe I would hit any tree, the problem is not that I’m crazy about the problem.
However, unless you’re shocked, the 2022 Civic will do its best to make sure you never have to taste the fruits of Honda’s efforts;
The Honda Sensing Active Safety Package has been updated for the new generation, including sharper cameras and improved programming for the automatic braking system.
Low-speed braking control and prevention of front and rear false starts for the first time is also available.

Overall, there’s a whole heap of hot tech in the car. It’s the Honda we’re looking at here — but the automaker still isn’t overthinking when customers might get their hands on their 2022 Honda Civic, or how much they’ll pay for the franchise.
Is that our guess?
It’s really a modest problem because the base price of the 10th-generation car is $22,245, and that’s not the only problem because it won’t be available until sometime late this summer.
