10 tips to reduce energy used while driving

Many people cannot do without the car, even though it is not the most widely used means of transportation in the world. You can reduce your car’s environmental impact and save money by following a few tips.

1- Always try to drive smoothly,
avoid sudden acceleration and unnecessary braking, and use gears to reduce speed. For example, increasing speed and decreasing it between traffic lights increases fuel consumption. In order for you to drive smoothly as well, you must be aware of everything that happens on the road so that you can deal with surprises.

2- Leave a distance.
You must leave a reasonable distance between you and the car in front of you in order to avoid collision. If the other car changes its speed, you must have enough space and time to remove your foot from the accelerator pedal and reduce your speed by not using the brakes or even you can increase your speed easily And keep up with the traffic.

3- Do not press hard on the gas pedal and brake pedal.
Treat the pedal as if there is an egg between your foot and the pedal. This makes you press it gently. Pressing the gas pedal and brakes hard increases fuel consumption.

4- Gently change the speeds.
If your car is operating manually, change the speeds as gently as possible to avoid the sound of collision of mechanical parts, which indicates engine disturbance. Changing the speed from low to high reduces fuel consumption more than changing gears from high to low.

5- Use the maximum speeds on the highways
The fifth gear is often the maximum speed in which the output shaft is faster than the crankshaft and this saves a lot of energy and reduces noise and fuel consumption.

6- Lower your driving speed to save fuel
At 110 km/h (68 mph), your car consumes 25% more fuel than it does at 90 km/h (56 mph)

7- Turn off the air conditioning and open the car window.
When you operate the car air conditioning in hot weather, you consume approximately 15% of the fuel. At high speeds, the efficiency of the cooling system increases, but you still consume about 11% of the fuel more than when it is closed.

8- Make sure your car is clean inside.
Clean your car from time to time so that it does not carry any unnecessary weight. It is easy to forget items that you may have left in the trunk of the car.

9. Remove Unnecessary Add-ons
You can reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent simply by removing unnecessary add-ons such as roof racks and spoilers, as they increase wind resistance, making the journey more difficult for your car.

10- Shut
Down the Engine to Maintain When you are stuck in a traffic jam or idle for longer than a few minutes, turn the engine off. You will save more fuel.
By making a few simple changes in your driving behaviour, you can significantly reduce the energy used in your vehicle. To be more environmentally friendly, you can also consider walking or cycling if you don’t go far.
