 Learn to diagnose brake malfunctions like a pro

holidaysPossible causes of malfunction
* The brake
pedal reaches the floor of the car when pressed: When the pedal is pressed, the pedal reaches the floor of the car almost. The car does not stop or takes a long distance to stop.
1- Low level of brake fluid in the reservoir.
2- Master cylinder damage
3- Air in the hydraulic brake circuit
4- Brake fluid leak in the hydraulic circuit
*The brake
pedal reaches the floor of the car when pressed: When the pedal is pressed, it almost reaches the floor of the car. But be normal in the clicks after that.
1- A problem with the wear of the wheels or front suspension parts
2- Weak brake lining walls
3- Damage to the master cylinder interlock (internal leakage)
4- Low brake fluid level
5- Brake fluid mismatch (low boiling point)
6- Inaccurate lever tuning Pushing the cylinder or the servo
7- There is air in the brake circuit
* Hardening of the pedal, difficulty pressing on the pedal: The
pedal needs to be pressed with high force to activate the brakes. (sudden malfunction)
1- The servo is damaged
2- The vacuum servo does not get discharged
3- The brake tubes are dented
4- The presence of an obstacle under the pedal
* The brake
pedal descends when the foot is placed on it: the pedal when pressed stops the car, but the pedal begins to descend slowly to the floor of the car (brake decay)
1- Friction linings do not conform to specifications
2- Brake overheating (as a result of brake loading)
3- Overheating of the brakes (due to poor cooling)
4- Brake fluid contamination with water, or a non-conforming type
5- Poor leakage in the brake circuit
6- Internal leak in the master cylinder
* The brake pedal works, but the pedal
travel is large: when you press the pedal, the brakes work close to the floor of the car.
1- Low brake fluid level
2- Brake fluid contamination with water
3- Air in the hydraulic circuit
4- Friction linings are worn
5- The servo or servo valve is damaged
6- The shoe clearance is not set
* The brake pedal works like a sponge or like a spring:
when you press the pedal, you find it light, and when you press several times on the pedal, it screams more solid and then becomes light after lifting the foot from the pedal
1- Leaking in the brake tube or tube
2- Air in the brake circuit
3- The brake fluid is contaminated with water or does not conform to the specifications
4- Corrosion in the friction linings
5- Weakness in the brake cylinders
6- Thin or cracked circuit
7- The shoes are not in the middle the circuit
* Vibration of the brake
pedal : When you press the pedal, you feel a pulse or vibration. In the event that the car has an anti-lock wheel system, this is normal during strong braking.
If this occurs when braking on a slippery road, it may be from the antilock system. Do not switch on the pedal and keep pressing the pedal.
1- The brake disc is uneven or twisted. The brake circuit is not round, or toggled.
2- The steering system is broken or damaged
3- The wheel bolts are not tightened
4- The wheels are unbalanced
5- The rims are warped
6- Damaged or
worn tire 7- The front wheel bearing is damaged or not adjusted
* Hold brakes do not release brakes (laden):
Seeing smoke or smelling bushings fire, or the rear brakes being too hot. When driving, you feel that the car is loaded.
1- The clamping brake cable is not moving
2- The clamping brake connections need to be lubricated
3- The clamping brake parts are broken in the wheel
* The brakes close (lock):
when you press a light pressure on the pedal, the brakes close, as if you were pressing hard on the brakes. The vehicle may swerve when this occurs.
1- Failure of the clamping brake to loosen
2- Friction lining wear or contamination of the linings
3- Problems with the brake calf cylinders
4- Unfastened saddle
* The car stops with difficulty when using the brake:
When using the brakes, the car does not stop. Or you need to put a lot of effort into trying to stop it.
1- Low level of brake fluid in the reservoir
2- Damage to the master cylinder
3- Air in the hydraulic brake circuit
4- Corrosion of the friction linings
5- Contamination of the friction linings with grease or brake fluid
6- Hardening of the surface of the linings
7- Blockage in the master cylinder tubes
8- Screw Master cylinder piston
9- Weak engine
vacuum 10- Damage to the servo irreversible valve
11- Discharge tube blockage or disconnection
12- Servo damage
* The brakes are loaded:
when driving the car, you feel that the car is not being pulled, and you may see smoke at the wheels and you may smell a burning smell.
1- The clamping brake is effective, or does not disengage
2- A broken or loose part of the rear brake
3- The
interlock of the wheel disc brakes has bulged 4- The disc brake piston sleeve
5- The length of the pedal or servo lever is not adjusted
* Vehicle deviation during braking:
When the brake pedal is pressed, the car deviates severely, and one of the wheels may lock.
1- Loose or broken lining
2- Damaged wheel cylinder or saddle cylinder
3- Damaged or missing front wheel pomegranate
4- Contaminated liners with oil or grease
5- Wheel angle problems
6- Different tires or different tire inflation
* A squeaking sound when using the brakes:
Hearing a loud screeching sound or friction sound, the sound may appear and disappear and may remain continuous, and the car may swerve to one side or not.
1- Dust and dust accumulation on the bushings
2- Bushings wear
3- The bushings or rotor hardens as a result of high temperature
4- A sound from the acoustic warning assembly (noise) for the wear of the bushings to indicate the need to change the lining
* A friction sound when braking at slow speed:
When you press the pedal while the car is accelerating, you may or may not hear the sound. But at slow speeds, the sound becomes audible when the car slows down.
1- Complete wear of the friction linings
2- Damage or lack of connection of the front wheel pomegranate
3- The disc is uneven or bent

* A thumping sound when using the brakes:
When pressing the brakes, a thumping or clicking sound is heard. The sound depends on the strength of the pedal and the speed of the car.
1 – Steering system parts
not tightened or broken 2 – Suspension (auxiliary) parts not tightened or broken
3 – Saddle bolts missing or not
tightened 4 – Friction bushings not attached to the saddle
* The brake warning light stays on: the
 red warning light lights up.
1- One of the two brake circuits is not working
2- The brake warning lamp switch is damaged
3- The proportional valve is not in the middle
