Sluggish sales of the Kia Stinger could mean an early retirement of the sports sedan.

It’s no secret that sales of the daring sports sedan have been weak for some time, and the next generation of the Kia Stinger remains unknown. This may ultimately be a moot point because we hear that the current generation model will be finished early, in the spring of 2022, and some compare the Kia Stinger to being a real Gran Turismo.
Citing reports that Kia Motors released a production plan on July 16 for its factories and manufacturing centers in South Korea . The Kia Stinger will be assembled at the automaker’s Sohari plant in Gwangmyeong, but the Korean Car Blog reports that the plant will be retooled to handle mass production of future electric vehicles, with a specific nod to a hybrid version of the new Carnival minivan.
The report, published by the Motor 1 website, cites unnamed local industry sources for information, noting that retooling will begin early in the year and that production of the Kia Stinger will be completed by the beginning of the second quarter of 2022.
The report paints a bleak future for the Kia Stinger sports sedan, but we advise caution with this information. The Kia Stinger has just undergone an all-market Face Lift facelift , with the American version becoming all-new this year. Dropping the model completely after this investment seems unlikely, and South Korea isn’t the only place where the Stingers are being built.
