The 2022 Kia XCeed features higher ride height, a lower-cost engine lineup, and plenty of equipment as standard. However, in general, the Kia Xceed is a copy of the ceed hatchback, but it has been raised by 44 mm, to be a mid-size car between the Sportage crossover and the full-size Sorento all-wheel drive
Built on the same platform as the Kia Ceed hatchback, the 2022 Kia XCeed is bigger but smaller than the Sportage, and the Kia XCeed features a coupe roofline to set it apart. Exterior design of the Kia Xceed 2022
In terms of styling, the Kia Exceed’s design was better than the similarly sized Mercedes GLA, so Kia was able to give it some SUV style characteristics without spoiling the look. It has black plastic cladding, and large roof rails , however. There is a resemblance to the rest of the Ceed family as well, with front doors in common. But it takes a much steeper and more aggressive look than the hatchback that shares the same platform.
There are two 1.6-liter diesels, one with 134 horsepower, the other with only 114 horsepower.

Interior Design for Kia Exceed 2022
The Kia XCeed shares its interior design with the Ceed.
But its cabin is attractive, and the standard infotainment system isn’t the best.
The interior of the 2022 Kia XCeed looks very smart, but it’s less upscale than that of a VW T-Cross or Skoda Karoq.
Soft-plastic quilted surfaces extend from the doors to the beautifully elegant dashboard, behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel on all models.
Lower models come with cloth upholstery, but higher versions have some leather trim on the front seat armrests.
We recommend the high-spec 1 Series and you’ll get leather seats as standard with yellow contrast accents.
The high-spec models come with metal pedals, and a nice panoramic glass roof.
The 2022 Kia XCeed 1 Series comes equipped with an 8-inch wide touch infotainment screen, with DAB radio and Bluetooth.
The screen is bright and responsive to touch, and the menus are easy to follow.
But it is not equipped with satnav, all models support phones, and a set of navigation apps can be copied from your smartphone to the integrated Kia screen.
The mid-models have a 10-inch screen, with satellite navigation, phone rings, traffic data updates, live weather information, parking assistance, and smartphone app operation.
The 2022 Kia XCeed is also the first Kia to get fully digital driver discs. It’s visually appealing, clear to understand and gives you an amount of trip information, but doesn’t offer customizable views like the VW version.
And finally you have a standard 6-speaker audio system, with the option to tweak it with an eight-speaker JBL audio system, but it’s available in the higher trims.
Quality and specifications of the Kia Xceed 2022 Kia XCeed
Unlike the VW T-Cross and Skoda Karoq, the 2022 Kia XCeed looks like a traditional family car.
It comes with some chunky black fenders, a raised suspension, and contrasting rims that mimic the skids of all-off-road cars, and the 2022 Kia XCeed’s interior looks distinctive, with all its buttons reasonably placed.
Finally, it remains to be known that it is wider and longer than the Ceed hatchback.
Helpfully, the Kia XCeed comes with a wide range of engines, there are petrol engines perfect for getting around town, and a selection of diesel engines for longer highway trips.
There is also a hybrid version called the Kia XCeed PHEV.
But the 2022 Kia XCeed’s engines aren’t exciting, and the car doesn’t bend into sharp corners, and is less nimble and comfortable than the Ford Focus Active.
I liked the set of standard safety features and lighting controls that made driving easier.

The Kia Exceed may not be best for carrying adults in the back, but it does have several spacious storage boxes, the largest in the front door, with enough room in the console, two cup holders in the front, and a pair of cup holders integrated into the foldable rear armrest. .
The rear door bins aren’t quite as cavernous as the front doors, but they’re still large enough to accommodate a 1.0-liter bottle, all along with a bunch of rear seat pockets as well.

2022 Kia Exceed Engine Options
In its Exceed car, Kia gives you a range of engines to choose from one of five petrol and diesel engines, and soon it will be equipped with a hybrid electric engine, although the XCeed is not fun to drive, but it is comfortable and quiet, and the range of petrol engines starts with a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 120 horsepower.
It’s the slowest engine of the bunch, but it’s good for your city commute, and a gas-efficient 45 mpg.
The second option is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 140 horsepower.
It feels comfortable and smooth, and it uses a bit more fuel in the city.
If you travel miles, or travel long distances, it makes sense to choose a diesel engine, available in two variants, one of which is a capacity of 1.6 liters.
With 115 hp, the fuel economy gives you 52 mpg, but it is weaker from zero, and prefers to go up to the second engine with 136 hp.
It is noticeably faster, more accelerating, and does 50 mpg.
Soon, a gasoline-electric hybrid engine and 1.6-liter petrol unit will join the group, accompanied by an electric motor working together to produce 141 horsepower.
It can go up to 40 miles on battery power alone.
And really, it would be cheaper to run.
It’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard on every model, but it’s not as smooth, and the 1.4-liter petrol engine is only mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, but that transmission can be a bit hesitant at lower city speeds.
Driving impressions of the 2022 Kia Xceed
Regardless of the engine, the Exceed has great grip, but it doesn’t bend much in corners, and it’s an emphasis on comfort rather than cornering.
It’s less flexible than the Ford Focus Active.
The Kia XCeed’s raised suspension feels smooth at speed, but it takes on some sharper bumps and potholes, especially on the 1 and 3 Series with larger 18-inch wheels.
It is less able to absorb bumps than the Volkswagen T-Cross and the more efficient Skoda Kaorq.
Speaking of highways, you can control the speed in the high-spec 1 Series thanks to the automatic transmission and adaptive cruise control that keeps a safe distance between you and other cars.
The Kia XCeed’s good turning circle also gives it light steering, decent forward vision and a standard reversing camera, and gives it good traction in the city, and highway bumps are unmistakable because they are constant, and you only feel a little wind or road noise.
Lane-keep assist comes standard along with automatic emergency braking.
Where the car detects pedestrians and cyclists, it is equipped with all classes even the lowest, and is available as an additional option in versions “2” and “3”.
We’re moving on to the 2022 Kia XCeed’s suspension, which I find is a little softer than its hatchback squash, and there’s a little extra mileage through the corners, but the steering is nice and quick to feel dynamic enough.
But its feedback is less than that of the Ford Focus Active.
We have driven a car with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine in the standard configuration – and we have also driven a version with a four-cylinder petrol engine with 138 hp.
With 18-inch wheels and low-profile tires, we recommend it because it cuts road noise and makes the ride more balanced overall, and we found the 1.0-liter engine not so fast.
It takes 10.9 seconds to reach 62 mph, but the manual gearbox is better than the automatic transmission with a 1.4-liter engine.

Handling in a 2022 Kia XCeed
The 2022 Kia XCeed runs fluent and reassuringly in control, but without the precision and agility of family hatchbacks like the Ford Focus and Seat Leon.
It also leans into corners more than the Ceed hatchback, but not so much that we would call it zigzag.
The PHEV also feels less nimble, due to the added weight of the battery pack and that’s the nature of most hybrids, but the XCeed PHEV is still more structured than the Mercedes A250e.
But do not expect the Kia Exceed to power on the slippery trails, because it is a front-wheel drive system.
Noise and vibration in the Kia Xceed 2022
The 1.0 T-GDi three-cylinder engine feels powerful when you rev it but it isn’t unpleasant.
The 1.5 T-GDi four-cylinder petrol engines found in the Egyptian and Arabic version are also quieter at low revs but falter a bit when pushed hard.
The PHEV’s engine is more sluggish due to the six-speed automatic gearbox.
On uphill roads, the engine tends to shift gears and spins more, and on the plus side, it can run quietly on electricity alone and switch between two power sources smoothly.
The 1.5 T-GDi engine is available with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, which can be choppy in traffic.
And if you stick with the six-speed manual gearbox, its light, short throw feels fine to use but the clutch spring pedal takes a while to get used to.
All versions have powerful and progressive brakes.
And at highway speeds, the 2022 Kia XCeed is noisier than rivals such as the Focus and Golf, due to increased wind and road rumble.
Recommended version of oxide
In terms of pricing, the base 2022 Kia XCeed 1.0-liter is the favourite, priced at just under £21,000 without any options, and it’s £1,000 to 2,000 more than its Sid sedan, but has easier entry and exit.
