Detailed review 2023 McLaren Artura features, disadvantages, specifications and prices

Comprehensive review, in-depth inspection and close inspection of the 2023 McLaren Artura and McLaren’s first silent V6 engine

The McLaren Artura 2023 McLaren Artura is the brand’s first car ever to be powered by a V6 engine. Previous models have always had a V8 engine. Yes, it’s the beginning of a second life for supercars. A decade later, the combination of gasoline and electric technology has finally infiltrated the brand’s first mass-produced hybrid car: the McLaren Artura 2023. It features prominent air vents and scissor doors. A more spacious and luxurious interior design.

No supercar expert could have foreseen the drama surrounding Artura. After a series of production delays, the 2023 McLaren Artura two-seater hybrid finally arrives. Bringing with it McLaren’s history of building fearsome, focused supercars.

McLaren has embraced the future of the hybrid with high performance that it brings to us with the Artura 2023 sculptural supercar. It is based on a new lightweight platform. It embraces an electric battery to create a plug-in hybrid model, the first of its kind. The two engines “petrol and electric” produce a combined power of 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. It estimates it accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 205 mph.

The 2023 McLaren Artura debuts with new vehicle architecture and a new hybrid powertrain designed to take McLaren into the next decade. However, the 2023 McLaren Artura is an evolution, not a revolutionary car.

McLaren 2023 exterior styling

At first glance, the McLaren Artura 2023 looks just like any new McLaren. But closer inspection reveals a subtle evolution of McLaren’s design, combined with meticulous attention to aerodynamic detail. For example, vents near the front wheels direct air down the wheel wells. There is also a simple design line on the door that transfers air from the front of the car, along the sills, and to the rear cooling radiators.

The McLaren Artura looks more compact and more sophisticated than any previous McLaren, with well-controlled surfaces and tighter gaps. The doors, rear bumper, roof and A-pillar are all “Ultra Forged” aluminium. The Artura bonnet is traditional aluminum stamping, and the front and rear quarter panels are made of composite materials.

The McLaren Artura has been extended to 178.7 inches and comes with an all-new suspension as well. The hydraulically cross system used in the 720S is gone, and there’s a traditional multi-link setup front and rear, with adaptive dampers that can switch between Comfort, Sport and Track modes. The rear suspension assembly is twice as stiff, designed to provide improved traction.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 49.jpg

The McLaren Artura carbon fiber body is built at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre, near McLaren headquarters, where the car’s final assembly takes place. It’s a lighter, stronger and more rigid chassis than the one used in the 720S or 570S, and most importantly it’s built more compactly to ensure the perfect positioning of the battery pack.

(relatively) the design of the McLaren Artura 2023 is a very different direction from the McLaren . Where sharp edges cut off the fertile surroundings. It makes it look fresh, and some might think of it as an updated 570S.

McLaren Interior Design 2023

The 2023 McLaren Artura illustrates McLaren’s interest in the career role before fashion. However, the cabin is trimmed with more elegant materials, such as leather and microsuede. and carbon fibres. Overall, cabin designs are streamlined, include button-free steering wheels, and as usual limit the presence of a physical switchgear.

The 2023 McLaren Artura comes standard with power-adjustable seats, and McLaren appears to have excellent outward visibility to help drivers position the car precisely on the road or racetrack. While not quite as spacious as the McLaren GT, the 2023 McLaren Artura boasts 6 cubic feet of luggage space in the front trunk.

The seats in the McLaren Artura 2023 Clubsport setup are fully adjustable 10-way sports seats, and the Clubsport’s adjustable lumbar setup helped make the two-hour drive more comfortable than most fixed-tilt seats.

Information, entertainment and contact about the McLaren Artura 2023

While McLaren’s infotainment system is usually an unimportant idea for its shoppers, the Artura features an 8.0-inch vertical touchscreen with familiar features.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 34.jpg

It also includes Bluetooth connectivity, integrated navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio and a selection of audio equipment. Those who want to keep their car as light as possible will prefer a stereo with fewer speakers while others may want to upgrade to a more powerful surround sound system.

Engine and transmission of the McLaren Artura 2023

Whereas the brand has traditionally leaned toward a 3.8-liter and 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the 2023 McLaren Artura combines a new twin-turbo V6 with a coaxial-flow electric motor, housed in the casing of the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is powered by a 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery and contributes 94 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.

The engine’s six cylinders were placed almost horizontally, with a 120 degree bevel angle. Using both hydrocarbon and electric power, the 2023 McLaren Artura produces a combined power of 671 horsepower with 530 pound-feet of torque, plus 11 miles of incentive available in the form of pure electric drive. There is always an inherent temptation to compare the McLaren Artura to the latest Ferrari 296 GTB.

McLaren Artura 2023 engine performance

The new powertrain delivers up to 11 miles of all-electric operation. During our test drive, I praised the 2023 McLaren Artura’s acceleration, and I would have preferred it to take us to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds with more drama. Yes, the car is fast, but it is so silent that it is stealthy, and it lacks the aural saturation we prefer in competitive sports cars.

There is a seamless interaction between the electric motor and the internal combustion, resulting in a massive torque plateau that peaks between 2500 and 7000 rpm. The direct regeneration strategy leaves no choice for the driver, and clicking the paddle shifters will only change gears. The system operates with respect, sanctity and consistency in response to pedal feedback.

McLaren Artura 2023 Driving Impressions

My two days driving the Artura revealed a completely different beast than I expected, yes, the 2023 McLaren Artura is definitely fast. Capable, in fact, it retains many of the innovative and lightweight features we’ve come to expect from the Woking brand. It’s a more cohesive and livable package than some of the brand’s more exciting offerings, and represents a more sophisticated and mature way to take McLaren into the next decade.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 16.jpg

The Artura is also the first McLaren to ride on the company’s new Carbon Lightweight (MCLA) chassis, which is said to be lighter than its predecessor. The maneuverability is very sharp, but it also has a softer side that provides a more comfortable ride for commuting or cruising on highways. The steering brakes on the 2023 McLaren Artura are only used during low-speed cornering, and as such, the Artura relies on a more traditional driving style.

Partura’s drag rate suggests that future McLarens hybrids could have a more brutal side. I found the 2023 McLaren Artura to be a well-managed, well-rounded supercar that’s easy to live with and fun to drive fast, and the LT model is even more brutal and heralds a bright future for McLaren Hybrids. The combination of internal combustion and electric power helps it operate quickly on straight lines, and the dual-clutch provides fast and smooth cooperative shifts.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 20.jpg

The default powertrain mode for the McLaren Artura 2023 is electric, and the 2023 McLaren Artura moves quickly, at speeds of up to 80 mph. But I have found that progress is not quite as smooth as in the purely electric mode; Sometimes, you can hear or feel the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission in action.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 23.jpg

Comfort mode is a good choice for all-round urban driving, especially with the dual-clutch gearbox set to automatic. The comfort mode is calibrated to ensure optimum fuel efficiency; It will disable the internal combustion engine at speeds below 25 mph, and will keep the engine shut down for as long as possible.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 28 1.jpg

Press the engine start button while holding the brakes, and the system will switch to full electric mode, where the vehicle’s electronic systems operate. The petrol engine is absent, and I find the sound from the HVAC compressor and electro-hydraulic power steering pump quieter. The loud squeak from it became quieter. I found acceleration to be slight in electric only mode.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 22.jpg

Sport mode leaves the engine in “always on” mode, and power flows in a linear escalation toward the red line. While the dashboard graphics reveal when the wattage is being generated or recovered, the electro-hydraulic steering is on par with most of its peers, and the brake feel is linear and predictable.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 51.jpg

The LT’s six-piston carbon-ceramic brakes and aluminum calipers provide excellent stopping power, and in their toughest settings, adaptive Tenneco dampers work with carbon monocoque to feel sharp and responsive. The McLaren Artura is not as exciting on the track as other McLaren cars, nor does it offer high downforce to encourage cornering speeds. Although the Variable Drift Control has been upgraded to adjust the yaw angles within 15 levels.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 53.jpg

As McLaren’s first serial production hybrid, the 2023 McLaren Artura is one of the most significant releases to date from the brand’s still relatively young road car division. Its path to production has been problematic and its launch has been somewhat challenging, but the McLaren vision appears to have been executed with diligent attention to detail, while maintaining a strong vision of purity that prioritizes linear suspension, predictable dynamics and lightweight construction. These are essentials for a successful supercar.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 15.jpg

Suspension and handling have been enhanced with increased front wheel width for greater stability and reduced tire wear in association with Pirelli Tire Company. At the rear, a mechanical limited-slip differential provides greater traction and performance while benefiting from improved rear brake wear, performance and reduced fuel consumption compared to the ESP system. Damping is also improved, as is brake cooling efficiency.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 50 1.jpg

Switching the handling mode changes the solenoid damping settings on the shocks, resulting in a noticeably stiffer or softer suspension. Where it never floats, the Artura’s chassis doesn’t have the feeling of slack or slack, but rather the transition from controlled to firm to tight, depending on the setup the driver chooses. The sticky Pirelli P Zeros also manages to give it a feel of firmness and stability that helps it with similarly reassuring braking.

McLaren Artura 2023 fuel economy

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Artura is good for highway 17 mpg and 21 mpg city, but with electric driving range in mind, it’s also rated at up to 39 mpg.

%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%83%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%86 %D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%D8%A7 2023 McLaren Artura 32.jpg

Once we have the opportunity to run one on our 75-mph highway for fuel economy, which is part of our comprehensive testing regime, we can rate real-world mpg. For more information on Artura’s fuel economy, visit the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) website.

McLaren 2023 Safety and Driver Assistance Features

Despite its supercar status, the Artura 2023 is already available with several driver assistance technologies – a rarity in this segment. However, its limited production and exotic nature mean it will not be tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key safety features include:

  • adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic high beams
  • Identify the available road signs

McLaren Artura 2023 car problems

In the road loop during testing, both the dashboard and center touchscreen in our test car suddenly faded away – all in black, for no apparent reason. The digital instrument panel came back to life, but the central touch screen remained out of service – along with air conditioning, navigation, audio and phone connectivity – for the rest of the ride. This was because it was a sunny day and the temperature was high.

It wasn’t our only car that had problems. Several other McLaren Arturas had similar infotainment failures, a reporter was stuck on the side of the road and his car came to a complete stop, and the car was eventually persuaded to come back to life but kept moving in “limp house” mode, making a trip Back slow.

McLaren Artura 2023 competitors

The most significant competition comes from the $170,800 Porsche 911 Turbo and $203,500 for the Turbo S, which is the benchmark for the supercar class. In many other ways,
