2023 Nissan Z 7 Cropped

Detailed review 2023 Nissan Z features, disadvantages, specifications and prices

Integrated review and deep inspection of the Nissan 2023 Nissan Z with 400 horsepower, six-speed manual transmission, and conservative design

For a car named after the last letter of the alphabet, like the 2023 Nissan Z, that letter holds history. Since its first launch in 1970, the Nissan Z has made an incredibly strong start. Launched as the Datsun 240Z, the first generation wore a long, slender hood, with a sloping roofline, square tail, and a powerful six-cylinder engine powering the rear wheels. Its starting price was only $3,526 at the time, which is about $26,000 at today’s price, and its name has been changed several times to 240Z, 260Z, and then 280Z.

Datsun became known as the Nissan Corporation. But the 53-year history of the car was rich, and it achieved huge sales, and was awarded many accolades, and its success led to high prices, but the shrinking of the sports car market led to the lack of Nissan Z for eight years . And now the new 2023 Nissan Z kicks off, bearing Nissan’s hopes of bringing the excitement back. Now, it presents a three-digit engine displacement metric number. The 2023 Nissan Z will be powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbo engine, and it will be called the 300Z or 300ZX.

The Nissan Z sticks to the classic formula shared by all its predecessors: 2-doors, rear-wheel drive, and it maintains the nod to affordable performance that Nissan re-established. The 2023 Nissan Z comes in two categories only: the sporty model, priced at $41,015, and the performance model, priced at $51,015.

What’s new for 2023?

The Nissan Z is an all-new car for 2023. The new Nissan Z takes design inspiration from previous models but gives us a glimpse into the future with updated technology and a much-needed interior upgrade. The new Z will go on sale in summer 2022 as a hardtop coupe but could follow with a convertible later.

A special paint and finish launch called Proto will also be released for $54,015, but production will be limited to 240 units. These prices remain unchanged whether you choose a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic, and there are no options except for the exterior paint and interior color schemes.

2023 Nissan Z Exterior Design: Vintage Inspiration, Contemporary Build

The new 2023 Nissan Z shares its platform with the Nissan 370Z so much that they have a combined wheelbase of 100.4 inches, 72.6 inches wide and 51.8 inches high. The sloping rear roofline is also much the same, but it’s now framed by more muscular rear accents. The historic, melting tail shape of its finish has been replaced by a sharp, vertical rear cut-out inspired by the old version’s tail, with horizontal LED taillights echoing the 300ZX’s stunning ’90s-era.

Looking at the new 2023 Nissan Z, we could easily see that it might have some old bones in it, but the old dimensions have changed, it just needed a little tuck with some modern accessories to feel like a 1920s product. Some have criticized the boxy shape of the front grille, but we think it fits with the design. In fact, I loved everything about the heritage-inspired design.

Those LED semicircle headlights are taken from the 240ZG sedan dedicated only to the Japanese market, while those LED taillights are clearly inspired by the Z32 300ZX. It’s a modern, modern all-in-one design that we simply adore, and speaking of the things we love, Nissan offers an agreeable vibrant color palette for its latest sports cars. I prefer the more exotic options, and I like the color Ikazuchi yellow.

2023 Nissan Z Powertrain

Finally, the reliable Nissan VQ37VHR engine is in place, as the new 2023 Nissan Z launches, powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that runs under the hood of the Infiniti Q50 Sedan and Q60 Coupe. The 2023 Nissan Z gets the most powerful tune from this powerful engine, which produces 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

Significant increases the new Nissan Z has enjoyed over older versions, the powertrain brings the Nissan Z into the realm of modern performance, going from 0 to 60 mph in as low as four seconds (it’ll be faster in automatic).

Power flows to the rear wheels through either a standard six-speed manual transmission, or a nine-speed automatic transmission at no extra cost, the automatic transmission making its life in the Titan. Despite its humble origins, the nine-speed was a huge improvement over the old transmission. Of course, we would not hesitate to recommend it, it is faster and more responsive.

2023 Nissan Z Engine Performance With GT Sport Taste

The addition of two turbochargers makes a huge difference, creating a completely different driving experience. The new car doesn’t require drivers to accelerate to the red line to extract all its power. Instead, you can ramp up at modest rpm while still roasting the tires with the turbocharged torque. In terms of acoustics, this engine produces more pleasant sounds than the GT-R’s twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

Driving impressions of the Nissan Z 2022

At our first driving event we drove the new 2023 Nissan Z so we could compare the feel of the new Nissan Z with the old version. I found the lighter power steering less cumbersome and didn’t lose an ounce of precision. The same can be said about sending power to the wheels. We no longer feel the need to wrestle with the old transmission to get it working, and on the automatic transmission, shifts feel crisper and better timed on the seven-speed transmission in the Nissan 370Z.

The no-lift-shift worked great on a long, straight road, as we pinned our foot to the ground from 1st to 5th gear and barely noticed a dip in the boost or the turbo revolutions. The car can also bark its tires in third gear. Manual paddle-wheeling is even more enjoyable thanks to the all-new transmission linkage and bevel synchronizers in the first two gears.

The most powerful speed and launch of the Nissan Z 2023

Speaking of start-up, launch control comes standard with the Nissan Z automatic transmission, and according to performance manuals. Simply hold both the gearshifts, apply force on the brakes, release the accelerator pedal, release the paddles and the brakes when the word “launch control” appears on the instrument panel and the traction and launch start according to the manual.

What happens is that a car often has a programmable engine speed while waiting for the clutch to be released. The system turned the wheels well on the automatic transmission, but is less useful on the manual transmission, which is a welcome change, likely thanks to the new LSD system that eliminated the axle jump we complained about in the previous version of the 370Z.

The sporty performance of the Nissan Z in 2023

We described the Z as a sports GT car rather than a beast on the track. That description sounds accurate, as we pushed the 2023 Nissan Z around the track and the launch came without much difficulty. The power is plentiful, and reminds me of the power of a Shelby GT500, but it’s sweetened with other elements, the suspension feeling like you’re sitting at home not on the street or on the track.

022 2023 Nissan Z %D9%86%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86.jpg

The Z has plenty of full tilt, but I felt the suspension was too soft for frequent use. It was fitted with some stiffer springs and some more aggressive Recaro seats.

Driving position and comfort of the Nissan Z 2023

Nissan only included two driving modes (Normal and Sport) in the automatic cab, so there’s not much to set up before you drive it fast. The automatic model comes standard with an easy-to-use operation control, which helps get off the line with ease.

Manually tuned performance grades get a new advanced launch assist control system, which allows you to choose the number of RPMs. Although we had a little more fun with the manual transmission, the automatic transmission never felt like a drag or reduce the car’s power on the track.

The maneuverability and stability of the Nissan Z 2023

005 2023 Nissan Z %D9%86%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86.jpg

New front tires on all 2023 Nissan Z vehicles extend the contact area. Increasing the wheel angle changes the way body weight is attached to the tire and extends the contact patch, making it 20 percent larger than before. We didn’t get a chance to look at the 18-inch Yokohama Advans at any angle, but the 19-inch Bridgestone Potenza S007 showed a strong stick while squeaking softly as I approached the limit. I could feel the car leaning too and swaying a little bit.

Interior Design of the Nissan Z 2023: Familiar but Improved

Although new for 2023, Nissan hasn’t changed the design of the Nissan Z’s cabin. It remains a two-seater coupe without the rear seats. But what has changed is everything else. The new Z receives a modern cabin with updated materials, a welcome improvement over the 370Z’s current interior. Leather upholstery, power adjustable seats and automatic dual-zone climate control are available.

If you’ve ever sat in an old Nissan Z, you’ll notice many items carried over to the new car. The climate and seat controls were taken straight from the old car. These same unique door-mounted air vents were on the old version, despite the obvious cost-cutting, as Nissan puts money where it needs to be upgraded like the infotainment system.

2023 Nissan Z

Cargo space remains a mystery, we couldn’t measure it, but we don’t expect the Nissan Z to be a champ, so we’d put three handbags in the trunk of the old car, which I think would be enough for most sports car buyers.

Nissan Z 2023 infotainment system

2023 Nissan Z

The new Nissan Z introduces a new 8-inch touchscreen display that comes as standard with a 9-inch unit available on the higher trim. This simple change made a world of difference as the old Nissan Z has been using the same basic radio or navigation unit for its entire lifecycle since 2009.

Information system in Nissan Z in 2023

The standard instrument cluster is fully digital, includes an excellent sporty design, and the physical gauges on the dashboard are fine, combining modern and vintage design elements in a way that matches the exterior. The Supra certainly looks more premium on the inside, but it also costs a lot more than the new Nissan Z.

And while Toyota offers a mostly black cabin, Nissan has fun options like blue or black/red and black/yellow combinations. The new Nissan Z is also practical, and it fits in the same large hatchback area behind the rear seats as the outgoing 370Z.

The HGTV interior’s renovation also impresses with modern amenities like large, programmable HD screens (with a GT racing-inspired Sport Mode design), wireless charging, some audio controls, a telescoping steering wheel, and two cup holders (one hidden under the armrest). slider) and color options like black and blue ($1,295).

Value for the price of the Nissan Z in 2023

We cannot say that the 2023 Z is the greatest new sports car available on the market. However, given its starting price of less than $40,000 and its 400-horsepower powertrain, we can easily call it one of the best deals in the sports car segment. Yes, the Supra offers faster performance and a nicer interior, but it’s about $12,000 more expensive.

001 2023 Nissan Z %D9%86%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86.jpg

And we can say the same about the Chevrolet Corvette, which is more expensive, at $20,000 more than the price of the new Nissan Z. Meanwhile, cheaper sports cars like the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Toyota GR 86, and Subaru BRZ don’t compare with the power of the all-new Nissan Z. Nissan did a good job of offering both manual and automatic transmissions for the same price, which is a nice touch.

021 2023 Nissan Z %D9%86%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86 1.jpg

It may seem like an exaggeration to say the Z is “great for the price,” but we commend Nissan for analyzing the market, being smart with its resources, and producing a product that falls well in the right place among entry-level sports cars. If you’re currently looking for a price range between $40,000 and $50,000, the new Nissan Z is a great choice. There is a caveat, however, as the base model doesn’t come with all the great handling features you’d want to harness the 400 horsepower.

Quality Nissan Z 2023

We were impressed by the stiffer chassis, lower wind noise even at high speeds, and the overall improvement of the powertrain. Where the twin-turbo engine offsets more than 150 pounds and adds to the Nissan Z’s braking weight, the supple suspension handles bumps admirably, absorbing bumps without gut vibrating.

2023 nissan z 103 1652893042.jpg

The automatic electronic transmission is one of those that pushes the R forward, backtracking on the N or D settings that can cause a slight car-wash panic, though its detection means are more straightforward than some. Nissan has ramped up its advanced Z driver-assistance game significantly, adding automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise, but it’s an old-school system with no stop-and-go function, and no lane assist. .

Fuel consumption for Nissan Z in 2023

2023 nissan z 123 1652893051 1.jpg

The EPA hasn’t released any fuel economy estimates for the new Z, but judging from our knowledge of the Infiniti Q60’s engine, we can expect highway fuel economy ratings of up to 28 mpg, with city ratings as low as 20 mpg. . When we test the copies sold, we will update this information.

Safety and driver assistance features in the Nissan Z 2023

Disadvantages of Nissan Z 2023
