Detailed review 2023 Kia Sportage features, disadvantages, specifications and prices

Comprehensive review, thorough examination and evaluation of the features of the 2023 Kia Sportage, a Kia icon arriving early next year.

The 2023 Kia Sportage has a long history of success. After nearly three decades of development, the Kia Sportage has evolved from a hard-to-sell SUV to a stylish, comfortable and family-friendly vehicle. Its sales were topped all over the world, backed by a seven-year warranty that was a notable selling point.

The
Kia Sportage 2023 has reached its fifth generation, armed with technologies to take on its compact SUV rivals such as the Ford Escape, Mazda CX5 and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Most of the 2023 Kia Sportage units will be built at Kia’s Georgia plant along with the Tolleride, Sorento and K5 sedans.
In 1993, the Korean introduced the Sportage board into its lineup.
It used Mazda engines and chassis, and Kia offered three chassis versions: a short-wheelbase convertible, a long-wheelbase five-door, and a long-wheelbase five-door and extended trunk.
But slow sales shattered her dreams.

After Hyundai bought a 51% stake in Kia, the two Korean automakers worked together and began sharing their platforms.
Starting with the second generation Sportage, Kia has built its compact SUVs on the same platform as the Hyundai Tucson, which is the same platform used for the new fifth generation as well.
What’s new in the Kia Sportage 2023?

The redesigned Sportage takes on a sharper face, with a more spacious interior thanks to its taller chassis.
The hybrid model gains a 226-horsepower, 39-mpg engine, and is front-wheel drive.
There are two off-road classes, and the interior of the upper models is equipped with twin 12.3-inch screens under a panoramic glass panel, a futuristic cockpit not uncommon in the compact crossover class.
Kia Sportage 2023 exterior styling
Since the fourth generation of the Kia Sportage, it has appeared in the “Tiger Nose” design designed by Peter Schreyer, but the 2023 model shows a modified version of it.
However, it is the same design idea with a dent on the upper side of the grille, and another on the lower side.

Kia has creased the edges of the hood, and the sleek black trim extends over the wheel arches to the rear.
At the rear, LED taillights block the tailgate in a single light strip above a large black dashboard and wide rear bumper.
The body line running from the rear to the tapered roofline looks more Subaru-like and strays far from the bold and cheerful Hyundai Tucson.
While the LED daytime running lights take the form of an arrow pointing toward the center of the car, the Matrix-LED headlights extend to their inner side.
At the bottom of the bumper, Kia installed an additional grille with gray edges to adorn it.

At the rear, the Korean SUV features a forward-sloping C-pillar, rear windshield, and a concave tailgate headboard.
Under the bumper, the automaker put fake exhausts and a shield in satin gray.
Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive models have 1.5 inches of ground clearance.
Body and dimensions Kia Sportage 2023 Kia Sportage
The new Sportage is 7.1 inches longer than the outgoing model and has a wheelbase that is 3.4 inches longer.
To distinguish the 2023 Kia Sportage from its sister Seltos with a significantly improved interior, the rear seat area has been increased.
The company says the new Kia Sportage has increased its luggage compartment 39.6 cubic feet to become the leader in its class.

The Sportage 2023 design is a product of Kia’s global design network in Korea, Germany, the United States and China. Unlike its predecessors, the Kia Sportage 2023 is available with two wheels, depending on the countries and regions in which it is sold.
Thus, it enters the competition against the Volkswagen Tiguan, also available in two wheelbases.
But the Sportage’s sculpted doors hide the extra length.
The Sportage’s dimensions have increased by 7.1 inches in length to 183.5 inches, which is close to the proportions of the Volkswagen Tiguan.
A longer wheelbase opens up what was already spacious rear seats for even greater comfort for an SUV with 41.3 inches of rear legroom.
Which is even higher than the Volkswagen Tiguan.
Kia Sportage 2023 interior design
The main attraction in the interior of the 2023 Kia Sportage is the 25-inch wide, curved panoramic glass screen on the dashboard, which includes two 12-inch screens of the same size.
A thin LCD screen displays vehicle data and driving information such as speed, revs, coolant temperature or fuel level.
The second screen is installed above the center stack, and houses the two infotainment units.
It is the result of Kia’s collaboration with renowned specialist Harman Kardon who supplies other luxury car manufacturers with audio systems, and built the infotainment system for the 2023 Kia Sportage.

The panoramic screen is framed by inclined vertical apertures that focus attention on the axis of the cabin.
Beneath it, a thin panel of tactile climate controls is flanked by temperature knobs.
gearshift lever, drive mode selector, and control unit.

Kia has focused on interior trim, with piano black finishes and metallic trim around the air vents and door handles.
The automaker installed buttons for configuring the operating system, cup holders, and soft-touch switches on the center console, the latter of which is installed next to the Shift By Wire transmission.
There is a smartphone charging slot in addition to high-speed wireless charging.

The spaciousness and spaciousness of the Kia Sportage 2023
In terms of size, the new 2023 Kia Sportage stands between the Seltos compact sedan and the Sorento SUV, and the biggest change in the Sportage’s cabin is that it has become more spacious.
Here, the interior design team worked hard to create a unique environment.
Thus, depending on the options, Sportage is offered in a combination of black and white leather upholstery.
Furthermore, thanks to the new platform, rear seat passengers can enjoy 1,050 mm (41.33 in) of legroom and 1,000 mm (39.37 in) of headroom.
Kia Sportage 2023 Performance
For a comfortable and safe ride, the Korean manufacturer offers an option for cruise control based on the navigation system, which works with the front radar.
Thus, the Sportage can maintain a safe distance between itself and the vehicle in front and remain within the lanes.
The same system is also responsible for reducing the car’s speed before cornering to increase passenger comfort.

Since the SUV has to deal with off-road or snow-covered roads, the Korean company has also installed an advanced All-Terrain mode.
It is a technology that works in conjunction with the ESP sensor assembly, the engine management unit and the automatic gearbox to provide the best possible traction in specific situations.
The system is also based on a four-wheel drive system known as Haldex.
The X-Line is the off-road equivalent of the new X-Pro range.
X-Line models get distinctive bumpers and side mirrors in gloss black, roof rack, window surrounds, and 19-inch wheels.
The X-Pro adds a degree of capability to the X-Line look package, with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires wrapped in black 17-inch wheels, LED fog lights, a two-tone roof, and cooled electric front seats.
The X-Pro comes standard with 4WD and faux leather seats.
Engine Options in the Kia Sportage 2023
Kia announced the launch of two engines for the car depending on the market.
On lower models, there is a 1.6-liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine.
Similar to the Kia Ceed GT engine, the engine produces 180 horsepower.
It is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
And this is the engine that specializes in the Middle East markets.

Initially, a single, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine will be available that sends an estimated 187 horsepower to the front wheels (or all fours) via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The previous engine, with the same specifications, produced only 181 horsepower.
But the new engine will gain a new eight-speed automatic transmission for even more efficiency.
It is worth noting that over time, Hyundai-Kia managed to create powerful, reliable and clean diesel engines.
The Korean manufacturer will launch another version of the 2023 Kia Sportage with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine with 186 horsepower.
Dedicated to regions whose customers are fond of these fuel-saving engines.
We could not know whether these new engines will cover the Sportage in the Arab region or not.
2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid Engine
The new platform allows for further developments with the hybrid versions and plug-in hybrids, which will follow.
Hyundai-Kia has planned significant strides towards electrification, and for the foreseeable future it is expected that the 2023 Kia Sportage will include electric vehicles in its lineup.
Kia is also planning to release a Sportage Plug-In Hybrid model, but it hasn’t revealed details yet.
There’s also no indication if it’s the 240-hp turbocharged engine that powers the SX Turbo.
We return to the Kia Sportage Hybrid version, which uses a 1.6-liter turbo engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and includes an electric motor connected to a 1.49 kWh battery, like the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.
The new Kia Sportage will produce 226 horsepower and 2,000 pound-feet of towing.
It comes in front-wheel drive LX models, and delivers 39 mpg “combined”.
An optional all-wheel drive system is also standard on the higher-end EX and SX-Prestige models.
Fuel consumption in Kia Sportage 2023

In its class, the Sportage lives near the bottom of the fuel economy hierarchy, well below what the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V achieve.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, front-wheel drive gets you 23 mpg in the city, and 30 on the highway.
Those numbers drop by 1 and 4 mpg, respectively, when all-wheel drive is added.
It only gets 20 miles on the front-wheel-drive turbocharged, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The level of safety and security in the Kia Sportage 2023
Safety remains a priority, as does space in the new Sportage.
Standard safety equipment on the 2023 Kia Sportage includes LED headlights with automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, with pedestrian and cyclist detection, active lane control, and parking sensors.

Options include blind-spot monitors, a rear camera, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, hands-free limited driving on the highway, a surround-view camera system, remote parking, and other driver assistance technologies.
It is reported that Kia has improved and installed Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the Sportage 2023. In Europe, in general, automatic braking systems and other features such as lane keeping assist will become mandatory within a few years.
However, Kia installed it anyway.
On the other hand, the Sportage has historically received top crash test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS, but the new model has not been tested, and a full suite of airbags is expected to be deployed with it.
