Just one month after the world premiere of the all-new Wuling Xing Chen at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show , SAIC-GM-Wuling has just revealed the first real photos of the new member of its global lineup. New official images allow for a deeper view and a better and more accurate preview of the exterior appearance of Wuling’s first global crossover, which has generated high expectations among the Chinese public and the motoring press.

The all-new Wuling Xing Chen is the second vehicle to be introduced under the new global strategy of the Chinese brand General Motors , which completely revamped its image last year to better position itself in the Chinese market, and begin its gradual international expansion. The world’s first model from the Chinese-American maker General and SAIC was the Wuling Victory MPV, which debuted the Global Silver logo, a more refined design language and a lively, powerful body.

From a design point of view, Wuling Xing Chen adopts its own interpretation of the design language represented by the brand’s “dynamic aesthetics of the wing”, for which a special line has been created for its new models with the silver logo. The compact crossover has a fresh and modern look, with which the company seeks to differentiate itself from its main competitors in order to attract younger customers. Xing Chen will fight for the title of best-selling crossover in China with the Haval H6 and Geely Boyu.

Viewed from the front, the new Wuling Xing Chen stands out with its wide grille, interior texture emphasizing the logo shape, and modern rectangular headlights with LED daytime running lights similar to the extended wings, giving the car a unique and highly recognizable appearance. The bumper integrates fog lights in a raised position and has straight lines that provide durability to the design.

Wuling Xing Chen’s side bodywork features clean, refined lines, and to an extent. The treatment of the darkened A, B and C columns is striking, as it provides visual continuity to the glazed area and helps create the current design direction of the “floating ceiling”. Also playing a prominent role is the shark fin D-pillar that harmoniously merges the side metal plates to intersect with the elegant rear end.

The all-new Wuling Xing Chen will be launched during the second half of the year in China, while the brand has yet to specify the final details of its expansion into emerging countries around the world. As a new player in the highly popular C crossover segment, both in the Chinese market and internationally, Wuling Xing Chen is key to increasing the importance and positioning of GM’s best-selling brand in China.
