Some tips for cleaning the engine to increase the life of your car

There are several reasons to clean your engine at least every one or two years. It is best to make the cleaning routine such as cleaning the belt and checking the hoses because if these parts get covered in dirt it will be difficult to detect any leaks or cuts in the belt.

How to clean the engine
first Before starting the cleaning process sensitive components including the air inlet, distributor and electrical parts must be protected by covering them with plastic bags.
Use dishwashing liquid or any other grease-dispersing cleaner and clean with a nylon brush to clean the surface and parts of the engine.
Some powerful cleaners are found in auto parts stores. Follow the instructions carefully. You can also clean the engine with steam.

Clean the filters also
There are several filters (the most important of which are oil, fuel, transmission and air) that are important to maintaining your car’s engine, and they should be changed according to the schedule in the owner’s manual or as follows:

  • Change the oil filter at least at every engine oil change, because the new oil filter contains a liter of old dirty oil that mixes with the new oil. But if you change the oil yourself, clean the filter with anti-friction materials, which are available in auto parts stores as well.
  • Check the air filter once every two months, for example, it must be changed when it is dirty or changed as part of the periodic maintenance of the car. Since it is easier to reach the air filter than the oil filter, you can find out where the filter is from the owner’s manual, the life of air filters can be increased by using compressed air found in service centers.
  • Some car manufacturers and suppliers claim that modern fuel filters do not need to be changed, but it is a good idea to change the fuel filter once a year to ensure that the engine is running efficiently. As when the fuel filter is clogged, this leads to poor engine performance and difficulty in the starting process, and this is an early warning of the possibility of corrosion in the fuel tank.
  • Change your transmission oil filter after the first 8,000 km (5,000 miles) of driving and every 40,000 km (25,000 miles) or two years later.
