The new Honda Civic SI is delicious, and Honda promises to add more flavors to the upcoming SI version

We’re in the midst of a blizzard of news for the 2022 Honda Civic, and it looks like the giveaways will keep coming until the new Civic Type R comes to verdict, which we can only speculate on for now. But this will happen at another time. And for today’s slice of the Honda Civic pie, we finally have more news about its sporty, body-cloaked sedan Si version, released in the 11th generation of the new Civic’s signature Civic.

Specific details about the Honda Civic Si are still few, such as what the powertrain will be, how much power it will produce, and whether there is any new trick-or-treat technology to be added. And all these details are few, as if Civic is practicing a point-by-point policy with us.

The Honda Civic Si relied on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine in its predecessor, and we had only one major complaint centered on the rev suspension during shifts. Hopefully, Honda will solve that with its next version of the new car. But there’s one thing we wouldn’t mind taking on for the new version, and it’s the six-speed manual that will once again serve as the Si’s only transmission option.

Like the 10th-generation Honda Civic Si, the new Honda Civic Si will definitely come as a sedan, Honda confirms. As for the hatch that was unveiled recently, we still don’t know if it will also bring us a Si coupe. Just as we saw the Si coupe next to the Civic Si version, but the two-door Civic certainly won’t share the future with us and doesn’t exist anymore.
Honda Civic SA policy

Honda Canada recently announced on Twitter that “There will only be a sedan version of the SA . However, when asked if these plans are likely for the US market as well, and will include the Middle East region, the company said, “We cannot comment on the plans of the US division or other departments on future product releases.”

So, we still don’t know. It’s likely Honda will want to keep the Civic Si and Type R versions a secret until they are fully revealed sometime in the coming months. Our guess is that we can expect the Si to be lifted sometime in mid- or late-August, and I really couldn’t believe the leaked Honda correspondence, which assured dealers that the Si would appear by October. Aside from guesswork, one thing is for sure that if the new Civic Si is an improvement over its predecessor and goes back to the way the standard Civic was without going up too much in price, it will be a performance bargain and a good attempt to boost sales.

The 2022 Honda Civic sedan starts at $21,700, and the redesigned Civic Hatchback starts at $22,900. These prices are a little above average for the compact car class. Three higher sedan trims retail for $23,100, $24,700, and $28,300, while three higher hatchback trims start at $24,100, $26,600, and $29,400.
