A test drive and thorough inspection of the Nissan Ariya 2023 Nissan Ariya, the elegant and powerful family car
When Nissan first announced that it would soon offer an all-electric crossover, there weren’t any such vehicles available for sale. It was 2019, and a few months later, Tesla started producing the Model Y, which became its most popular model to date.

However, when the Nissan Ariya 2023 hits showrooms this fall, the Tesla Model Y won’t be the only electric crossover. There are at least four all-electric vehicles introduced and launched since Nissan first told us that it will add another all-electric vehicle to its fleet.
Nissan Ariya 2023 competitors
In addition to the Y model, the Nissan Ariya 2023 will undoubtedly compete with the Volkswagen ID.4, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Kia EV6 And they’re all pretty good electric cars in their own right. So, we set out on this first driving event with the aim of trying to determine exactly where the 2023 Nissan Ariya is positioned.

The price of the car we tested |
We had a chance to take the pre-production front-wheel drive Ariya with the 66kWh battery pack on a racetrack of several laps. We’d love to try the Aria all-wheel drive with a larger 91kWh battery pack and Nissan e-4ORCE technology, but unfortunately, it’s not ready for outdoor testing just yet. Ariya all-wheel drive with e-4ORCE technology will arrive in dealerships in late fall, two months after the FWD version was launched.
Nissan promises that the e-4ORCE powertrain of the 2023 Nissan Ariya will deliver a powerful, smooth, and highly productive driving experience, as well as unparalleled ride comfort. Passengers who ride electric cars with strong acceleration and suffer from motion sickness often complain of the rocking back and forth motion. The e-4ORCE system was developed at Nissan to eliminate this problem, without affecting the performance, braking or handling characteristics of the 2023 Nissan Ariya.
The exterior design of the Nissan Ariya 2023
The Nissan Ariya 2023 is an expression of style and technology, combining them to complement each other. The electric vehicle platform also removed all major constraints and allowed designers to take new approaches to existing components. The Ariya is available in six two-tone exterior paint packages, each with a black roof and three full body colours. The Ariya redesign redefined Nissan’s design philosophy. Which Nissan calls “the eternal Japanese future”, it presents a Japanese approach in a simple and modern way.

The front of the car looks smooth, elegant and new. Featured through the shield is a reimagined grille grille for the age of electric cars. The shield incorporates a traditional Japanese kumiko 3D pattern beneath the smooth surface, protecting the sensors used for driver assistance functions. The redesigned Nissan brand logo is prominently placed in the center of the aerodynamic shield.
The lower part of the shield is flanked by a dimly lit illuminated with the logo, and when turned on enter slim LED headlights, designed with four small 20mm projectors to reinvent Nissan’s signature V-Motion design. A single unbroken horizontal line runs across the sides, connecting the front and rear facades to convey a linear movement, giving it an architectural beauty.
The back of the Ariya is equally stunning, featuring a steep C-pillar that blends into the back deck. The one-piece lighting blade, which represents the taillight assembly, is designed to give a parking dimming effect and consistent red illumination, day or night, and the rear fender flares and raised rear spoiler indicate the Ariya’s powerful electric capabilities.

The Aryia is built on a CMF-EV ski-type chassis and is a scalable platform from Nissan. As with the other platforms of the electric skateboard, the platform gave the car a long wheelbase, to improve the ride. Although the Ariya is the same overall length as the Nissan Rogue (182.9″ compared to 183.0″ Bruges), the Ariya’s wheelbase is about 3 inches longer (109.3 inches compared to 106.5 inches in the Rogue).
Driving impressions of the 2023 Nissan Ariya
We didn’t really get enough time to do a thorough and in-depth driving review, and we’re waiting to drive the Nissan Ariya a full day or more. Although the trial period was short, it was enough to learn a lot, and it also helped us to better understand the position of the Ariya in the electric crossover segment. The plush and comfortable interior with smooth ride should appeal to those who appreciate elegance, comfort and a smooth ride for those looking to navigate winding valley roads.

The Arya car has three driving modes; Riyad, Standard, and Eco, each of which has an impact on the power and behavior of the regenerative braking system as well as driving feel and pedal response. Nissan says the Ariya FWD puts out 214 horsepower, 221 pound-feet of torque, and is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds and that’s right. While we were driving her on a wet track, she accelerated in 8 seconds, which confirms the credibility of her claim.
There was a bit of a surprise when I pressed the 2023 Nissan Ariya hard into the turns, finding it stable in the turns, despite it being heavy, weighing a little more than 4,000 lbs, but finding the performance limited, while we find the Mustang Mach-E, KIA EV6 and Tesla cars The Model Y competition is more performance-oriented than the Nissan Ariya.
e-4ORCE technology in Nissan Ariya 2023
Nissan is clearly trying to make the transition to electric driving smooth for those coming from conventional cars, and the lack of true one-pedal driving, as well as the e-4ORCE AWD system, are two prime examples of how it plans to make this happen. I was a little surprised to learn that Nissan has changed the regenerative braking, eliminating one-pedal driving, and a more aggressive e-pedal setting will lower the Nissan Ariya’s speed by 6mph.

In our opinion, real driving with one selectable pedal was preferable in the car’s settings, so those who liked it could have it. Many experienced electric vehicle owners love the dynamics of single-pedal driving, and some newcomers to electric car driving will initially find it unusual.
Engine Nissan Ariya 2023
The Nissan Ariya uses the same externally excited synchronous motor (EESM) at the front of the FWD model, and will be located in the rear on the AWD model. Nissan will adjust the power delivery through software alone, as the engines are physically identical.

Nissan has not released prices for the 66 kWh battery pack versions. The Ariya Venture FWD is expected to start with the smaller package at $40,000.
Nissan Ariya 2023 car battery

Ariya will arrive this fall with two battery options; One with a 66 kWh package (63 kWh usable), the second a 91 kWh battery (87 kWh usable). Both packages use 400-volt cells and have an advanced liquid thermal management system, which is a major upgrade over the air-cooled setup used in Nissan’s other all-electric offerings, and given the LEAF the same battery could significantly reduce early battery deterioration and capacity loss.
Driving range for Nissan Ariya 2023
Ariya’s battery pack options perform well in comparison to other crossovers in its class. In fact, the Ariya’s battery is larger than all of its competitors except for the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Of course, the driving range will vary depending on the powertrain configuration chosen as well as the appropriate battery pack for the vehicle.

EPA range certification has not been established, but Nissan estimates that the front-wheel drive Ariya with a 91 kWh battery will achieve a range of 300 miles per charge. On the other hand, the all-wheel drive Nissan Ariya with a 66 kWh package is expected to provide 215 miles of EPA-rated “range” driving range.
Car Shipping Nissan Ariya 2023
For North America and Europe, Nissan is moving from the CHAdeMO DC fast charging standard it uses for LEAF, to the Ariya’s Combined Charging System (CCS or Combo). Ariya will join LEAF and use CHAdeMO only in Japan, while it will use the Chinese standard in China. LEAF will continue to use CHAdeMO, but when the next generation of LEAF goes into production, it will also transition to the CCS standard. which will be presented to all parts of the world.

Ariya can accept up to 130 kW on DC fast charging, and new cars are charging at high speed. But Nissan has focused on providing a “flat charge curve” for the Ariya, which means it will be able to maintain a maximum charge rate deep into the package. We will document the full charge curve and compare it to other electric vehicles, and publish it soon.
This is good news because the charging curve is just as important, and perhaps the most important, as it relates to the maximum charge rate you can accept. If the Nissan is able to maintain a relatively flat curve of 70%-80% of the charge point, the Ariya will likely charge from 10%-80% in about 35 minutes. Yes, there are electric cars that offer the highest rate of fast DC charging, but the charging curve decreases shortly after the start of the charging session.

For Level 2 charging, the Nissan Ariya comes standard with a 40-amp (9.6 kW) internal charger that refills about 30 miles of range to the Ariya per hour of charging. The Ariya will come standard with the same dual voltage (120V / 240V) portable charging cable as the Leaf Plus.
Interior Design for Nissan Ariya 2023
We have found that the interior of the Aria is one of its strongest aspects compared to its competitors. The CMF-EV platform allowed for electric vehicles with a completely flat floor, and Nissan also moved heating and cooling equipment and other units behind the dashboard into the traditional engine bay. Arya’s stunning interior design is defined by the Japanese term ma – a reference to its spatiotemporal qualities. The interior design more closely resembles an elegant café lounge on a spaceship, rather than the traditional car cabin.

Ariya’s mini dashboard blends seamlessly into the cabin’s shape and transitions into the doors. It is free from the buttons and switches found in conventional vehicles. The basic climate control functions are integrated into the central wood dashboard, in the form of tactile keys that vibrate when touched. Underneath the dashboard is a central storage box and a foldable tray, in short, the innovative design makes Aria’s cabin a portable office.
The spaciousness and spaciousness of the Nissan Ariya 2023
The features offered by Nissan’s all-new electric platform have enabled the Ariya to deliver a spacious cabin. The compact nature of the powertrain components allowed Nissan engineers to install the climate control system under the hood, allowing the designers to use the entire cabin unimpeded.

The flat, open floor – made possible by the location of the battery in the base of the chassis – and the slim gravity seats – results in ample legroom and easy interaction between front and rear seat occupants. The electric propulsion system and generous use of sound-absorbing materials result in a quiet cabin, allowing passengers to relax and enjoy the lounge-like space.

On the downside, moving all of this gear up front, reduces front stowage space. And Nissan isn’t the only electric vehicle maker that sacrifices storage space. However, the Ariya features a generous 22.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. And when the rear seats fold almost completely flat, boot space increases to an impressive 59.7 cubic feet.
The quality of the materials used in the interior of the Nissan Ariya 2023
There is a good amount of hard plastics, which we usually find in cars of this class and price range, but the Ariya seems to integrate them better than others. Personally, I didn’t mind the Ariya’s hard plastic look as much as the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The Ariya’s cabin provided plastic materials that mimic wood grains, and refined touch buttons to control the climate, making it look like an Infiniti car. In fact, another reporter told me that he thought the Aria felt like an Infiniti during a test drive.
Comfort and Seating Position in Nissan Ariya 2023
One of the problems I had with the front seating position was that the front seats didn’t look low enough so that tall passengers would have enough headroom. I felt a lot of height, but even with the seat in its lowest position, I didn’t have as much room as I like. Tawal will have a headspace problem.
Rear seat passengers are treated to an abundance of head and legroom, with the cabin’s flat floor allowing them to cross their legs and relax with ease. Accents and trim are placed in the back space to give the same sense of sophistication and comfort. The sleek front seats are positioned to disguise the B-disc, and indeed, if you focus more on driving comfort and premium design than on performance, the front seats are more elegant. Then Ariya will be just right for you.

In fact, with all these great options in the all-electric crossover segment, we really urge you to try all of them before buying one. If you think of a Mustang Mach E, go and test drive a Kia EV6 too. And if you have your eye on the Ioniq 5, check out the Volkswagen ID.4 experience first. And when Ariya lands in showrooms in early fall, be sure to take a look before you buy.
Safety and security technologies for the Nissan Ariya 2023

For safety, the Nissan Ariya comes with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 package. The package features hands-free driving technology and a Driver Attention Monitoring system that can sense if the driver is paying attention or distracted and send an audible warning.
