Disadvantages of iron rims
The main disadvantage is their weight. They are worse when accelerating and worse when braking due to their heavy weight. They also have other disadvantages, including:

• It is poorly resistant to abrasion and rust
• There are no different designs or different shapes.
• Mostly they are not 100% balanced. Some unnoticeable deformations may occur when forming the metal during the industrial stage, which makes these rims unsuitable for high speeds.

However, cheap iron rims are very popular, especially in city cars or family cars when the car’s dynamic performance is not so important. Some opt for lightweight sport rims because of their good looks and performance, usually aluminum or magnesium alloys, which are more expensive than steel rims.
