2022 Volkswagen Tiguan The Volkswagen Tiguan is a European version of the classic American SUV style. It offers sportier handling than many of its competitors, and its cabin has a restrained ambiance with plenty of modern technology features. While the Tiguan didn’t prove to be quick when I tested it, the turbocharged four-cylinder engine did its job well, and was quiet and refined.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan achieves high sales in global markets, and is the only one in its class with a third row of seats available for front-wheel drive versions only, and this kind of flexibility in the cabin is something that competitors to Tiguan such as Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5 and Toyota do not offer RAV4. 
Showrooms are expected to land at the end of 2021.
Competitors to the Volkswagen Tiguan 2022
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan feels more spacious, better-driven than other new compact SUVs, and the new range and pricing options boost the value of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan, but it’s taken a step in the wrong direction in terms of ease of use.

The Tiguan has won the past two compact SUV challenges (2017 and 2019, respectively), and that success has translated into good sales, but Honda sells three times as much of its CR-V as the Tiguan, and four 
times as much as the Toyota RAV4. 
So, Volkswagen decided to improve the sales of the 2022 Tiguan by giving it a moderate update inside and out with some new technologies ,

Perhaps most important is a realignment of trim, equipment and price, in an effort to catch up with a piece of the compact SUV market cake from the likes of Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and Ford. 
I recently took a short tour of the latest Tiguan to see if the changes Volkswagen made are likely to help boost sales and stand up to stiff competition.
The exterior design of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan
While other SUVs are getting more and more unusual, the Tiguan remains committed to its minimalist design. 
Volkswagen gave it a great update and a new design this year, to help it lead the competition. 
New LED headlights, modified grille and bumpers, and new wheel designs added luster to the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan.

All in all, these design changes to the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan have resulted in a more modern and stylish-looking compact SUV. 
But don’t look too hard at the exterior of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan and expect to be able to tell what’s different, even the most die-hard Volkswagen enthusiast will have a hard time figuring out what’s new.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has received some new fenders, front and rear lights, with more angles and curves in its designs. 
The biggest change was that LED headlights are now standard across all trims, even on the cheapest trim. 
At the rear, the “Tiguan” badge has moved to the center of the tailgate, a new trend that will popularize Volkswagen designs and appear on all new Volkswagen SUVs soon.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan resumed in its own way. 
Crimp one of the prominent folds down the side of the body and the large, wide doors to facilitate entry and exit. 
She gave it a new LED center light bar that made it look even more special at night. 
It was given wheels ranging from 17 inches to 20 inches, depending on the grades.

It comes with a new steering wheel and touch-sensitive controls. 
The seats are heated, and a digital gauge-screen is standard. 
All models except the S-Class also have a new touch-sensitive climate control panel, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and a semi-autonomous driving mode called Volkswagen Travel Assist. 
But the third row of Tiguan seats remained an option.

New in the cabin of the 2022 Tiguan is the switch to a standard, 8-inch digital panel that’s standard on S, SE and SE R-Line Black. 
The SEL R-Line model has an upgraded 10-inch digital display. 
The 10-inch screen looks crisp, with plenty of reconfigurable features, the standard 8-inch screen is murky and low-resolution, and Volkswagen has to popularize the 10-inch screen as standard to make it look impressive.
The spaciousness and spaciousness of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2022
The first and second rows have plenty of head, leg and hip room, the third row I suppose is just kid-friendly, and anyone looking for a seven-seat Volkswagen SUV would recommend the Atlas, as it’s more spacious, and has room in all three rows for adult use.

The interior of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is nothing short of classic Volkswagen, in the sense that it is simple and functional but not very elegant. 
As for the seats. 
The standard Tiguan models come with cloth seats and partial electric adjustment for the front seats. 
And the choice of more expensive versions can lead to a full modification of the driver’s seat, and seats made of faux leather, topped by a panoramic sunroof. 
The Tiguan has a drawback with just 12 cubic feet of storage space behind the third row.

If you thought the Tiguan looked a lot like the old model, you probably wouldn’t be surprised to learn that it does, too. 
The only engine on offer is a 2.0-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine making 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, mated to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

Driving impressions of a Volkswagen Tiguan 2022
The engine of a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is powerful enough to drive around town at low speed and only appears weak when you really put your foot in it in long accelerations from a standstill. 
However, its sprint starts, and the eight-speed automatic transmission pairs well with the engine to keep it in its powerband or put it there quickly on demand. 
Like most of its competitors, it’s a far cry from the speed, but it makes up for it with a tight ride, sporty handling, and responsive steering with a sporty whisper.

The brake pedal movement on the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is soft and doesn’t match the powerful, progressive pedals on our VW family tree. 
In our testing, the Volkswagen Tiguan delivered a poor 9.1 seconds of acceleration from 0 to 60 mph. 
On the road, the Volkswagen Tiguan didn’t feel slow, and I was pleased with its performance around town.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan couldn’t blend into the highway and I was hoping it had a little more power. 
Steering effort was light but not entirely dope, my ride in the Volkswagen Tiguan was smooth and quiet, despite the 20-inch wheels on low-mounted tires in the SEL R-Line, but the damper was the body control on the lazy side, and I found it rolling unimpressively in the corners,

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan excels easily and doesn’t like traffic as much as it likes to drive quietly. 
And for a small family SUV like this, that’s perfectly acceptable, as not all cars have to be sporty, and Volkswagen knows this, offering instead a comfortable powertrain and transmission designed for quiet times more than crazy ones.

There are now two optional touch-sensitive areas on higher trim levels: the climate control panel and the steering wheel. 
And the touchscreen climate control panel is the lesser of these two evils. 
It works relatively well, the only problem is that it’s mounted so low in the center console that there’s no choice but to take your eyes off the road to operate it. 
Touchscreen climate controls are an option, however, not present on lower trim levels.

The lower grades have a touch-sensitive steering wheel, and they have buttons from the old Tiguan, and the higher grades have a new control system that doesn’t work well. 
I am against the touch buttons on the steering wheel, the operation of the touch-sensitive panels is not ideal, there should be no part of the steering wheel that you are not allowed to touch, Mercedes and Volkswagen break this rule, it is a frustrating and unpleasant experience to use these controls, and I would not want criticism like that For a car that won the challenge twice, but it is the truth and reality.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2022 infotainment
The Volkswagen infotainment system is elegant in appearance but features touch-sensitive controls built into a large glass screen that we found difficult to use. 
It is integrated with both mobile phone systems and will delight drivers who prefer their smartphone interface to a Volkswagen system.

There is also a standard Wi-Fi hotspot. 
A 480W nine-speaker Fender audio system is available in the top grades, while an 8-inch digital screen is standard, with the option of a 10.3-inch screen with greater capabilities that display a variety of information.

The EPA estimates that the front-wheel drive model will be the most economical, with ratings of 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. 
All-wheel drive drops these numbers by 1 mpg each and using the SEL R-Line class results in an additional 1 mpg penalty. 
I haven’t tested a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan in my 75mph highway fuel economy test, and will update the info after I try it out.

And speaking of trim levels, there are now only four: S, SE, SE R-Line Black and SEL R-Line. 
The styling differs slightly between them: the S and SE are the standard first trims, while the SE R-Line Black trim comes standard with the R-Line package, and gets the look of an optional black standard package that covers the window edges, mirror caps, grilles, bumpers and wheels. 
The range-topping SEL is now bundled with the R-Line package only, and it doesn’t sport a black R-Line look, but gets a sportier body kit and keeps the chrome accents.

Most people should opt 
for the $30,690 
SE Series, which has the most popular features, according to maker Fagin. The SE gets a larger 8.0-inch multimedia screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging pad, power tailgate, power driver’s seat, and the IQ.Drive safety package.

The SE trim with the R-Line Black package costs an 
extra $2,800 and features sporty exterior accents, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and an R-Line steering wheel with more touch controls located on either side. 
And these controls need some getting used to, especially for setting the volume.
Value for money Volkswagen Tiguan 2022
The updated standard features give the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan a solid value. 
With an excellent array of standard features and attractive value, the Tiguan wins and the infotainment system in all but the base model earns an extra point.
