A detailed review of the Skoda Karoq 2022.. Features, disadvantages and prices

An accurate and in-depth review of the Skoda Karoq 2022, the only car whose price has not increased in Egypt

Have you noticed how some manufacturers name their individual models with the same initials and last letters, in order to group them into a family? That’s why we have the Skoda Karoq, which sits between the smaller Kamik and the larger Kodiaq Kodiaq in the Czech brand’s SUV lineup.

%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 04 1.jpg

The Skoda Karoq is, in essence, a response from Skoda to the Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 3008, Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan. On the outside, the Škoda Karoq looks modern in every inch, but under its skin it shares a lot of mechanics with the Ateca and Tiguan, both made by brands, such as Skoda, and partly built by the Volkswagen Group.

If you want a well-designed small SUV with plenty of space, the Skoda Karoq is worth a look. But just don’t expect to be impressed by its design or the way it spins around corners.

However, to ensure that the Skoda Karoq does not step on the toes of any of its cousins, it is slightly smaller than the Tiguan and designed to be less of a sports car, but also more comfortable and practical than the Ateca, creating its own unique identity and place in the world.

The Skoda Karoq is also available with plenty of options. There is a range of petrol and diesel engines, and you can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. And when it comes to changing gear, you can do it yourself with a manual gearbox or have a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission do it for you. Oh, and there’s a whole bunch of trim levels to choose from, too.

So, is the Skoda Karoq the right car for you, and if it is, which version should you buy? Just read our 16-point review.

Engine Options in Skoda Karoq

The Skoda Karoq’s 1.0 TSI 110 petrol engine has a surprisingly low boost, so it’s okay if you spend most of your time in the city. However, the more powerful 1.5 TSI 150 petrol engine is our pick of the group. It handles heavier loads and faster open roads more efficiently thanks to a power output of 148 hp, which is much more useful than the low-speed engine from the 1.0 TSI. It also gives you powerful acceleration, as it takes about 8.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph.

There’s also a pair of 2.0-liter diesels, which come with 114 hp (the 2.0 TDI 116) and another 148 hp (the 2.0 TDI 150). Both are really bold and powerful even during low revs, and although the lower version takes time to reach highway speeds, the TDI 150 is just as fast as the 1.5 TSI 150 petrol engine. The TDI 150 is available with optional all-wheel drive, and traction may be The extra it provides is useful if you are planning on doing any towing like a boat etc.

At the top of the range is the 2.0 TSI 190 petrol engine, which is mated to all-wheel drive as standard and only available on the Sportline. It’s the fastest Karoq, with its 0-62mph (100km/h) acceleration taking just 7.0 seconds, but it’s also very expensive, as we’ll explain later.

Suspension and driving comfort in the Skoda Karoq

If you stick with 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels, the Skoda Karoq will excel when it comes to smoothing out the harsh edges of grooves and bumps around town. In fact, it beats most competitors for ride comfort, helped by the Ateca sport seats. In fact, you would have to buy a Range Rover Evoque or a Volvo XC40 to get a more comfortable family SUV.

3 2150301 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

I noticed that the Skoda Karoq’s ride gets better on the highway, which makes it a comfortable companion on long trips. The rims of the Edition and Sportline models with 19-inch wheels are far from split, but you’ll feel more ruts and other road imperfections, especially at urban speeds.

130 2151 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

All petrol and diesel models have an option called Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). Essentially, this allows you to stiffen or soften the suspension depending on whether you’re starting or cornering hard, and makes the Skoda Karoq more cushioning in a comfortable position. The DCC system works better with 19-inch wheels by reducing the stress they add around town, but the rest of the trim is already so good that it’s not worth the extra expense to pick a 19-inch.

Processing in the Skoda Karoq

As previously explained, the Skoda Karoq sits on the same basic platform as the Ateca and the VW Tiguan, and it is clear that Skoda has worked hard to give the Skoda Karoq its own personality and character, as it sits squarely in the middle of the spectrum between the most comfortable car And the sport car.

3 02150301 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

I did notice more body roll into corners than in the driver-focused Ateca, but the Skoda Karoq felt just as nimble as the taller, heavier Tiguan.

Like its relatives, the Karoq’s steering has natural heft, which can build up gradually as you turn a corner, while its precise level of precision lets you glide from corner to corner with ease. With so much grip and control at your disposal, she doesn’t lack confidence.

143 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 ications prices 2021 skoda karoq 2.jpeg

Don’t forget that if you want your SUV to do more than just look at the 4WD part it’s available. But keep in mind, it may help you cross a muddy field, but don’t think of the Skoda Karoq as a cheap alternative to the Land Rover Defender – it certainly isn’t.

Noise and vibration

Let’s start with the engines and gearboxes. The diesel feels a little grouchy under hard acceleration, while the 1.0-liter petrol suffers noticeably, although not annoyingly, if you give it a bit of a kick with your feet. All in all, we recommend the 1.5 petrol engine offers the best smooth forward ever, although that screams loudly when you put it under pressure. However, none of the Karoq competitors are much better.

skoda t cross 4x4 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

There are copies in the Skoda Karoq 2022 sold in Egypt that depend on the cranks of the 1.4-liter TSI four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, paired with an 8-speed transmission.

The manual gearbox in the Skoda Karoq is light and easy to use, as is the clutch. And if you choose an automatic model, you’ll find that it shifts smoothly but can be a bit jerky when stopping, which is a little annoying when parking or in stopped traffic.

The Skoda Karoq generates more suspension noise than the Ateca and Tiguan, although mechanically they are very similar. There is a background boom in it as it deals with bumps in the road, plus you may feel more tire noise and wind. Mind you, of course I say some noise, none of that is excessive enough to really give you a headache. And for those with particularly sensitive ears, the Mazda CX-30 is a quieter companion.

Interior

Driving position and dashboard

You won’t have any problems getting comfortable in your Skoda Karoq, no matter your size or shape. All versions have front seat lift and lumbar adjustment, plus there’s plenty of up, down and out steering wheel movement.

320 2150301 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

As you hold this wheel and manipulate the touch screen, you will also notice that you are sitting very comfortably. Each model comes with height-adjustable front seats and manual lumbar adjustments, and even for tall adults there’s plenty of room to stretch out. In the back, there is enough room for three adults to sit next to each other (although the one in the middle must be skinny.

You’ll also enjoy good seat support and a relatively high driving position, even though the Karoq isn’t a Range Rover skyscraper. However, you are sitting in a higher area significantly higher than that of the Mazda CX-30.

skoda t cross 4x4 2021 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

Inside you’ll find life made easier with the reasonably well-placed and grouped buttons and switches on the dashboard. Digital instruments are available as an option on SE L and above. They are not easier to read than standard analog discs, but they do show a good spread of additional information.

Vision, parking sensors and cameras

The Skoda Karoq is one of the easiest family SUVs to see because it combines a high driving position with thin windshield pillars and large side windows. Pulling out of T-junctions is very easy, they are good at maneuvering around multi-storey parking lots, and changing lanes on the highway is a breeze.

%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 04 2.jpg

It also significantly outperforms the Peugeot 3008 and Vauxhall Grandland X when it comes to over-the-shoulder visibility. Thanks to the relatively slim rear pillars, it’s a rare remedy these days for blind spots. As a backup to its remedy, all models have rear parking sensors, and SE Drive models and above have front sensors and a rearview camera. And if you jump into the SE L, you get LED headlights for better visibility at night, too.

Satellite navigation and infotainment system

Even the entry-level SE on the Skoda Karoq comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, giving you crisp graphics and a simple operating system. It is in fact one of the best touch screens in its class.

skoda t cross 4x4 20 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

Don’t miss out on the built-in satellite navigation, but you’ll get Apple CarPlay / Android Auto smartphone mirroring, so you can use Google Maps or Waze to get to your destination.

All other models and trims come with built-in satellite navigation, while the top-of-the-range version has a larger 9.2-inch infotainment system that can be controlled via hand gestures (also optional on SE L and Sportline models). And the gesture controls are designed to let you swipe through the air to scroll through things like music playlists, but it’s actually a really worthwhile gimmick.

%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 03.jpg

As standard, the stereo has eight speakers and offers reasonable sound quality, but if you like listening to music on the go then you should consider the upgraded 550W Canton system with 10 speakers.

Skoda Karoq quality

Skoda’s design team has come up with to give the Karoq an interior that is surprisingly far removed from those found in the Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan. Metallic and piano black bezels add a touch of sophistication to its finish.

%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 01.jpeg

In Karoq you’ll find plenty of spongy surfaces on top of the dashboard and doors, and even the stiffer materials on the bottom are textured in such a way that it doesn’t come cheap. The finish and finish aren’t just all that good, everything feels tightly pulled together too. But wait, it doesn’t have the visual wow factor of a 3008 inside, nor the luxurious feel of the Mazda CX-30, but its styling suggests it will survive the rigors of family life.

Passenger space and luggage compartment

Inside, this sensible and solid style continues. If you’re looking for wild colors or patterns that catch your eye, look elsewhere – this isn’t a Skoda bag. If that means the Karoq’s cabin isn’t the most exciting place, it also means that it’s big in terms of being user-friendly and simple in its design. This simplicity includes the central 8-inch touch screen, which has large, clear menu “buttons”; While the recent addition of the Octavia and Enyaq iV’s two-spoke multifunction steering wheel is a nice touch.

%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 0.jpeg

front space

It’s unlikely that anyone would walk into the front of the Karoq and start grumbling about the lack of space. The seat can be moved back a good amount to accommodate long legs, while a taller person will find that the seat is low enough to provide plenty of headroom.

skoda t cross 4x4 202120210311 161 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

Perhaps the only caveat (which is slight) is that the panoramic sunroof (standard on Sportline and Edition models, optional on lower trims) does increase some of the roof height. The good thing is that there’s plenty of storage space scattered around you, including large door bins and small compartments around the central dashboard area.

background space

The Skoda Karoq is a family-focused SUV, so its rear door openings are nice and large, making installing a child seat relatively painless. And there’s plenty of legroom for adults, so even six feet tall you won’t find your knees pressed against the backs of the front seats.

skoda t cross 4x4 202120210311 1615 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

Headroom is also excellent. The Karoq roof is higher than the roof of the Nissan Qashqai and is similar to the roof of the Seat Attica and Volkswagen Tiguan. As in the front, the panoramic roof fitted on some versions reduces headroom a bit, but not enough to disturb the six-foot-tall.

Skoda Karoq 2018 1024 0a.jpg

How about carrying three in the back? Well, there’s a hump high in the middle of the ground to climb on, and once it’s in place, the middle rider will feel a bit of pressure. We wouldn’t recommend a long trip with three adults sitting in the back, but that’s also the case with the Karooq’s main competitors, but there wouldn’t be much grumbling on short trips with three adults.

Seat folding and flexibility

This is an area where the Skoda Karoq is sweeping the floor with its competitors, even those closely related to it like the Seat Ateca.

%D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 01.jpeg

The Karoq has VarioFlex fitted seats, which are standard on the SE L (and optional on all other trims except the Sportline) and these premium seats do all sorts of smart things. For a start, the seat backs are evenly divided into three separate sections instead of the usual 60/40 section. This provides more flexibility if you want to carry long loads as well as rear passengers.

And that’s not all, these premium seats recline and slide back and forth independently of each other. And you can also remove all three rear seats from the car, saving more space. The only problem is that it is rather bulky and heavy. Without the VarioFlex seats, the rear seats split 60/40 and do not slide or recline.

Rear trunk space

The Skoda Karoq fund is one of the largest in the family SUV segment. Even Attica can’t carry the same amount of baggage, and that’s what I discovered when I tried to load handbags.

3 2105301 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

Ateca managed to swallow eight under the parcel shelf, while Karoq opened wide and swallowed nine. All nine seats are comfortably equipped without the need to move the VarioFlex rear seats forward to increase boot space. However, it should be noted that all-wheel drive models have a slightly smaller rear box than the front-wheel drive models.

The only slight inconvenience is that if you opt for the VarioFlex rear seats, you don’t get a height-adjustable boot floor. And you can add a height-adjustable boot floor to SE, SE Drive, SE Technology and Sportline models at a fraction of the cost. This allows you to create a flat, extended loading compartment without a loading rim when the rear seats are folded down.

3 2150301 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 1.jpg

On all versions, you get a range of hooks, trays and other smart features that will prevent shopping merchandise from sliding around the trunk when you’re driving home from the supermarket.

Costs and judgment

Skoda Karoq offers simple trim at a very cheap entry price to tempt you, the Skoda Karoq can look more expensive than the Nissan Qashqai, but for example. Compare decorations based on similar equipment, and you will find that they are very affordable.

skoda t cross 4x4 2 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

Operating costs, such as insurance and servicing, are largely in line with the Attica, although projected resale values indicate that the Karoq will in fact lose little money in depreciation over three years, although Qashqai is expected to retain better. PCP financing deals are usually very competitive thanks to generous deposit contributions from the Skoda brand.

Our favorite 1.5 TSI 150 engine can achieve 44.2 mpg in the True MPG test in the real world, which is more than equivalent to and may even surpass the Peugeot 3008. The 2.0-liter diesel is not much more efficient and costs more to buy, so it’s harder to recommend. But if you’re looking for the lowest car tax bills for your business, diesel engines fall into the lower BIK category.

Equipment, options and extras

We’ve already mentioned some entry-level SE design features, including the 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto and rear parking sensors, but that’s not all. You also get 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, electric windows on all sides, automatic lights and wipers, privacy windows, a leather steering wheel and cruise control. This is why it is highly recommended if you are on a budget.

We won’t direct you away from SE Technology, which is designed with corporate drivers in mind . It does add the convenience of adaptive cruise control, although you’re unlikely to find attractive PCP financing deals in this trim, so it doesn’t make sense if you’re a private buyer.

With that in mind, the SE Drive model is even more enticing, as it comes with a few extra selection touches, like the all-around parking sensors and the rear-view camera we discussed in the Vision section.

Skoda Karoq 2018 1024 0a 1.jpg

Want more creature comforts? The cabin of the SE L deserves a good look, as it gives you heated front seats, keyless entry and 18-inch alloy wheels, plus the VarioFlex rear seats we’ve had before. And with the Sportline design, you’re basically paying for a sportier look, and while it’s the range-topping version with tons of equipment, it’s just too expensive to recommend.

credibility

The reliability surveys conducted showed impressive results for ŠKODA in 2020, which came in an impressive fifth (out of 31 manufacturers). Even more encouraging is that the Skoda Karoq itself was one of the most reliable family SUVs in the survey, with very few bugs reported.

With every Karoq you get a three-year/60,000-mile warranty as standard, but you can extend it up to five years or 100,000 miles for a reasonable fee. All Kia, Hyundai and Renault vehicles meet or exceed this extended warranty period as standard.

Safety and security

All models come with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) as standard. This helped Karoq receive an overall five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP tests when it was tested again in 2017.

Although safety tests are more stringent today, the Karoq is still a very safe car. A few points to note are that it significantly outperforms the 3008 when it comes to protecting adults, although the 3008 and Seat Ateca turn the tables when it comes to child occupancy protection, and Karoq hasn’t been as good at protecting young children. The Mazda CX-30 was one of the top performers in this regard.

143 215301 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83 1.jpg

One option to consider is an extra Isofix point on the front passenger seat, and an expensive driver assistance package. The latter includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and – if you choose an automatic gearbox – emergency assistance, which can automatically alert you to emergency services if you are involved in an accident.

Is Skoda Karoq a good car?

Karoq is a Skoda that does what it does best – create a simple, functional and functional family car and sell it to you at a reasonable price.

If you expect dramatic and dynamic driving or performance, look elsewhere; But go ahead if what you are after is a powerful, affordable and reliable SUV for the family. on the principle.

103 2151 %D8%B3%D9%83%D9%88%D8%AF%D8%A7 %D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%83.jpg

The Karoq is also the Skoda that enters the family crossover market right at the center of the target – simple, efficient, and one of those cars that seamlessly enters your life. The elevated driving position has definite appeal, as does its robust build quality and a wealth of smart features (like a built-in ice scraper, a small tab in the windshield to hold the push and display card).

It’s not a car to buy if aesthetics are your thing – alternatives like Hyundai Tucson, Nissan Qashqai and Peugeot 3008 all wear sharper-cut suits – but it’s also not stripped of style. The dual-element headlights give it a bit of visual interest in the front, and the rest of the design is clean and elegant.
