What to do if the car has a high fuel consumption:

In the event that the fuel consumption is high (low fuel economy), it is possible that the car needs maintenance or repair. You should contact your dealer or repair shop to have your vehicle inspected. Below are some of the detective tests that a technician may perform in case of high fuel consumption.

o Inspect the car through the on-Board Diagnostic System Check to make sure that there is no malfunction in any of the sensors or actuators.

o Ensure that the brakes are not loaded (the brakes are constantly running).

o Checking the transmission method in terms of slip, the use of all gears, the gearing process (transmission – gearbox – automatic).

o Check the ignition timing.

o Check the exhaust emissions control system.

o Checking the vacuum mechanisms (tubes) for leakage, denting, or wrong connection.

o Check the tire inflation pressure.

o Check the fuel pressure and leakage in the system.

o Check the air purification unit (filter) for blockage.

o Checking the coolant level.

o Check the spark plug is wet, cracked, misfiring, burnt tooth, deposits, or poor connection.

o Ensure that the distance indicator (distance meter) is calibrated.

o In some cases, the problem is a weak engine pressure or a malfunction in the sprayers.

o Inquiries about the type and grade of fuel used.

o Inquire about the driver’s driving style in terms of using the air conditioner, violent acceleration of speed, and loading the car with a large load.
