The German Technical Inspection Authority stated that it is possible to significantly reduce the rate of fuel consumption in the car through a simple trick that many people do, which is to increase the air pressure inside the car’s tires by a small amount above the recommended value, i.e. at a rate of 0.2 to 3.0 bar.
At the same time, it issued warnings about increasing the pressure above the recommended value, so that this would not lead to instability of the car while driving, especially on highways, in addition to uneven tire wear on the other hand.
The correct values for a vehicle’s tire pressure are usually noted on the inner side of the fuel tank cap as well as in the vehicle’s operating manual.
