Can engine oil be used instead of gearbox oil?

Despite the obvious difference between the functions of both engine oil and transmission oil in the car, both are essential components for the good functioning of the engine in the car.

The task of the transmission oil in the car is limited to the gearbox and the drive axle, as for the engine oil, it starts working inside the combustion engines of the car, and the transmission oil does not withstand extremely high temperatures and has a lower viscosity than engine oil in the car.

In addition, the transmission oil is filled once in the factory, after which it remains in the car for a long time, unlike what happens in engine oil, which is changed regularly, due to the appearance of dirt and impurities in it as a result of combustion processes and loss of lubrication ability. The gearbox has no such dirt or abrasions.

In any case, it is not permissible to use transmission oil instead of engine oil, since it does not withstand high temperatures, in addition to that it does not provide the required lubrication.
