What is the Idle sensor? What are the signs of damage?

The Idle sensor or the so-called idle speed sensor is one of the important sensors in the car and one of the modern technologies that are not found in old cars and has been recently added  to raise the efficiency of cars and raise the degree of protection for the driver and passengers , and this part controls the amount of air going to the engine, Thus, it contributes to the combustion process, and works to produce torque in the engine, and its biggest problem is the similarity of the symptoms of its damage with a large amount of malfunctions capable of causing confusion, as they all have the same symptoms.

How can we know the shape of the sensor idyl?

The idle sensor is always located next to the air gate or often installed in it, and in most cases the idle sensor is used with mechanical gates that are directly connected to the gas pedal, where the electronic gates (mostly not always) dispense with the idle sensor and the gate valve position sensor or throttle sensor Position Sensor-TPS)

Signs of damage to the Idle sensor

There are a number of signs that indicate that this sensor is damaged in the car, and the most important of these signs are the following:

  • 1- Turn off the engine when the vehicle is overloaded
  • 2- RPM counter height
  • 3- The engine sound is loud without pressing the accelerator pedal
  • 4- Unstable engine RPM
  • 5- A noticeable tremor or tremor in the car
  • High fuel consumption

It is worth noting that these signs do not necessarily indicate damage to this sensor, while often they indicate the need to clean this sensor.
