Japan’s Toyota officially launched the fourth generation Yaris 2023 compact sedan version in Thailand (Toyota Yaris Ativ 2023).
The Yaris Ativ is classified as a compact sedan, which looks amazing inside and out, as it is called Toyota Vios in some Asian markets.
The Japanese small car is distinguished by its bolder attractive design and updated cabin, along with its high stability on the road with the availability of many amenities in addition to advanced safety features, which we will learn about during this report.
Toyota Yaris Ativ 2023
- A new economical compact sedan version of the old model, it will be a new addition with extensive styling updates and a new, more solid platform for this new model.
- Based on Toyota’s new Daihatsu New Generation Architecture (DNGA) platform, which also supports many Toyota budget vehicles for sale in emerging markets, instead of the TNGA-B platform used by the European-spec Yaris hatchback.
- The new Yaris has a wheelbase that is 70 mm longer than the previous model to provide more space in the rear seats, with increases in exterior dimensions, as it is 4,425 meters long, 1,740 meters wide and 1,480 meters high.
- Yaris ATIV will offer 4 different equipment classes in Thailand: Sport, Smart, Premium and Premium Luxury.

EXTERIOR DESIGN
- As seen in the photos, the new ATIV version adopts a more aggressive look, which draws design elements from its big sister, the new Toyota Corolla.
- It features a bold front end, better proportioned with a sharp front cover, dominated by a new front grille that covers most of the bumper, surrounded by elegant headlight units connected by a decorative piece, and also contains larger air intakes that suck in air to cool the engine.
- Down the sides, we find a streamlined, muscular side profile with sporty accents, complemented by 16-inch wheels fitted with twin-spoke alloy wheels.
- From the rear, the car came with a somewhat busy look, providing more aerodynamics, with narrow taillights connected by a prominent bar, a rear bumper with glossy black inserts, and a glossy rear spoiler optional in the Presto package.
Interior Design
- The cabin came with a design that combines simplicity and practicality, providing a spacious and very comfortable space with better quality interior materials, red faux leather upholstery and ambient lighting of 64 colors that increase the beauty of the cabin.
- An all-new dashboard includes an infotainment system, with a central 9-inch touch screen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
- It is joined by a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel for the most luxurious grades with several integrated buttons.
ENTERTAINMENT AND FACILITIES
- As for technology and entertainment, it has a 6-speaker Pioneer audio system, with 4 USB ports, and steering wheel-mounted controls.
- In addition, there are features such as automatic climate control with air vents for all occupants, push-button start, spacers in the rear cargo area and an armrest for the driver.
Safety and security systems
- It was supported by many driver assistance systems, most notably the hill climb assist system, traction control and 6 standard airbags.
- It also supports the vehicle stability control system, lane departure warning, cruise control, anti-theft system and brake assist.
- High-end categories include the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes features such as rear cross-traffic alert to detect vehicles when reversing, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking technology, blind spot detection and pre-collision warning, among others.
Technical Specifications
- In terms of performance details, the Yaris Ativ was launched with a VVT-iE conventional combustion engine, a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine with 93 hp (94 PS) and 110 Nm of torque.
- Mated to a CVT-i Super Automatic Transmission, it sends power to the front axle via front-wheel drive, and is the only transmission available on all models.
- With 4 driving modes, Eco, Normal and Sport.
- Details indicate that the new car will have a hybrid engine in the works, but this has not yet been confirmed.
