A valid driver’s license in the United Arab Emirates is important for expats, but the process for obtaining it varies based on your nationality and other factors.

For new residents of the United Arab Emirates, the rules, regulations and fees for obtaining a driver’s license can be confusing, especially since each emirate has its own operations, so
this guide is for Dubai only
Note: You must contact the Roads and Transport Authority on 8009090 for all your individual inquiries .
Here we list the different scenarios that expats usually face and what actions are required for each of them.

You do not have a driver’s license from any country

The total cost for obtaining a driver’s license is given to the applicant to pass all the tests on the first attempt, which is approximately 5,500 dirhams (including all classes and tests; taken as an average of different schools and fees).
