Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has also announced
that it will use an upgraded version of the upgraded Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC)* braking system in its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model of the all-new Outlander Crossover SUV, which is scheduled to be launched in Japan in the mid The second of this year, and it is expected to be launched in the United States and world markets at the beginning of 2022. The
all-new Outlander PHEV Hybrid uses a two-wheel drive engine consisting of one at the front and one at the rear of the vehicle.
TIME By taking advantage of the characteristic high responsiveness of electric motors and the high precision and freedom of control of the front and rear motors, the system optimally distributes the driving force between the front and rear wheels according to the road and driving conditions.

The combination of this two-wheel drive all-wheel drive paired with the S-AWC increases the vehicle’s maneuverability in steering and cornering as the old braking systems were.
Used on conventional models, the old brake control system only controlled the brake forces on the left and right front wheels, but the advanced S-AWC system adds brake control to the rear wheels.
This new system reduces load on the front wheels and allows maximum performance to be extracted from all four tires in a more balanced manner, and provides tailor-made handling, enabling the driver to enjoy a safe, secure and comfortable drive in all conditions.

The gravel setting provides balanced handling and off-road handling on wet or off-road conditions, and the snow setting provides stable vehicle behavior on snowy and other slippery roads.
Additionally, there is a Power mode, which provides powerful acceleration, and an Eco mode, which prioritizes eco-friendly and economical driving.
