Mechanical specifications
- In terms of the powertrain, the car offers two powertrain options with either a new six-cylinder mild-hybrid engine or a plug-in hybrid that both generate over 300 hp:
- The first, most exciting option: is the new E-Skyactiv G’s new 3.3-liter turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine, with support from a small 48-volt electric motor sandwiched between the petrol engine and transmission.
- Topping the range with 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, the most power and torque of any production Mazda series engine, power flows to all four wheels via an all-wheel drive system.
- There is also a second option: a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup consisting of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor that together produce 323 hp and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque.
- And with plenty of electric range thanks to a 17.8kWh battery pack, about 20 to 25 miles of electric range on a full charge.
- Both engine options include a new eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard.
- With both engines, the electric motor is sandwiched between the petrol engine and transmission, but the plug-in hybrid has a more powerful electric motor.
