Electric car sales in France rise 69%

Reports from the National Association for the Development of Electric Mobility “ L’Avare-France ” showed that sales of electric cars in France increased significantly, as they came by 69%, in light of the continued decrease in the purchase of new cars in France by 15%.

Although registrations of new passenger cars in France decreased year on year, sales of electric cars were noted and improved significantly over the past month.

A statistic came from the National Association for the Development of Electric Mobility in France, stating that the demand for the purchase of new cars continued to decline, while the same statistic showed an increase in electric car sales in France.

Sales of fully electric cars in the car market in France amounted to 12,736 cars, an annual increase of 69%, and accounted for 11.8% of the total sales of new cars.

According to the website, which specializes in the world of electric cars, approximately 20,937 new cars were registered in France during the past month, an annual increase of 9.4%, with the availability of 20085 electric vehicles, which has become 18.7% of the market, More than 180,000 new electric cars have been registered in France since the start of 2022 so far.

In the same context, French electric motors maintained their leadership in the car market in France, with 11,091 Peugeot e-208 cars sold, followed by Dacia Spring with nearly 10,000 cars.

It is noteworthy that the famous Tesla and Volkswagen cars are not among the list of the 10 best-selling cars in France this year, despite the high inflation in the percentage of purchases of electric cars.

New vehicle registrations in France for July 2022

It is worth noting that so far this year 2022, more than 180,000 new electric vehicles have been registered in France. As for the registrations since the beginning of the year until now, the sales figures are as follows:

• Passenger cars recorded BEVs = 106,067, an increase of 29%.
• Passenger cars registered PHVs = 70,157, a 13% decrease.
• Light commercial vehicles recorded BEVs = 7092, an increase of 13%.
• While light commercial vehicles recorded PHVs = 399.
• As for the total additional components, it came = 183731, an increase of 8.4%.
