Data issued by the “Automotive Market Information Council” AMIC revealed an increase in car sales during the first half of 2021, with total sales reaching 134,311 units, i.e. achieving a rate of 53% despite the fluctuation in prices.
Car sales rise in USA
The Europe market faced many challenges during 2021, either due to the spread of the Corona virus, as well as the lack of electronic chips, which had a significant impact on local assembly and import operations, in addition to the continuation of prices in increases and over-price.
The passenger car sector, whether local or imported, increased during the first months of this year by 63%, with 101,046 units registered, compared to 62,171 cars during the same period last year.
As for the trucks sector, it rose to achieve 64%, by recording total sales of 24,400 units, compared to 15,500 trucks during the last year.
While the passenger bus sector continues to decline, sales decreased by 6.8%, achieving sales of 11,800 units, compared to 12,600 buses during the previous year.

Brands that dominated the local market sales
- Chevrolet topped the list of the best-selling brands during the past 6 months, recording 26,200 units this year, then came second, followed by Japan’s Nissan, with 13,900 vehicles.
- As for the third place, Toyota of Japan came in with 13,200 units, then the Korean brand Hyundai came in fourth place, after recording total sales of 13,048 units.
- MG topped the fifth place with total sales of 12,500 units, while the sixth place is for the Japanese Suzuki, with total sales of 8,400 units.
- The South Korean Kia ranked seventh with total sales of 7,701 units, followed by the eighth place, which was the share of Italian Fiat, with 6,700 units, and then the Chinese Chery brand in ninth place with 6,200 units.
- As for the tenth place, it was the share of the French Peugeot, as its sales fell, recording 6,023 units.
Experts’ opinions differ on the future of the Europe market’s sales during the second half of this year, while others expect its good performance to continue.
