It makes the Captur fast, increasing its acceleration surprisingly well, and catapulting it from zero to 60 mph in 10 seconds. We believe the TCe 130 is the sweet spot in the Kaito engine range. It is a 1.3-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, with 130 horsepower. It is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission, the former covering acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 10.6 seconds, while the latter takes 9.6 seconds.

The E-Tech Hybrid 145 engine is the most powerful, producing 158 hp, and is mated to an automatic transmission. The hybrid model is the fastest in the Captur lineup, clocking an official 0-62mph sprint in 8.6 seconds—it’s a lively powertrain and offers an electric range of 30 miles. And you’ll find that the electric motor is best suited for cruising in city traffic at low speeds without the need for a petrol engine. and make it strong enough,

There are two 1.5-litre diesel engines: the dCi 95 and dCi 115. Both are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, and cover acceleration from 0-62mph in 14.4 and 11.9 seconds respectively. Also, all models are front-wheel drive exclusively.

The most interesting model is the engine-badged E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid 160. It’s powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine, and two electric motors (one powering the front wheels, the other recovering power as part of the starter/generator system). The combined power output of 160bhp looks promising and delivers decent initial acceleration, even propelling it from 0-62mph in 10.1 seconds.

The steering on the Captur is very good – neither too quick nor too nimble – and even on rough roads the car maintains its composure. Thanks to a more rigid body structure this time around, you don’t feel bumps bouncing back into the cabin. It’s a comfortable car, with less sacrifice of body control.

The hybrid model’s ability to reach highway speeds on electric power makes it extremely convenient, and you can save a charge for city driving to save fuel.
