BMW has officially revealed the start of production of the all-new BMW XM, at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, in the United States.
And this is a year after the appearance of its test version in November of last year, which gave us a future look at the upcoming hybrid SUV.
It is a 653-horsepower PHEV, and it is also one of the most important full-size SUV models that represents the pinnacle of luxury and comfort for the brand.

BMW XM 2023
- It is a high-performance, two-row, Plug-N-Hybrid SUV that comes loaded with luxury features, including advanced mechanical systems, luxurious leather upholstery and a host of driver assistance features.
- It is the most powerful hybrid SUV in the history of the German brand so far, and it is also worth noting that it is the first hybrid SUV model created by the M Sport division, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
- This makes it BMW’s most powerful hybrid SUV in the global market
- It is a stunning car that competes with the fastest supercars such as the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne Turbo SE, Ferrari Purosangue, and Aston Martin DBX.
BMW XM SPECIFICATIONS
Exterior design
- The BMW XM has a powerful exterior reminiscent of the XM Concept.
- The production version doesn’t stray far from the concept, with design elements taken from the original M car and a slightly sloping roof that nods to the shape of a fastback.
- It relied on the usual front end of BMW cars, where the giant front grille with overlapping kidney-shaped mesh slots decorated with chrome edges.
- The grille is flanked by separate headlights and slim daytime running lights with large louvres below and on the front bumper.
- The rear view shows a typical SUV rear with slim taillights, stacked trapezoidal quad exhausts and fog lights at either end of the rear bumper.
- The sporty SUV also got massive 23-inch M wheels in bronze and gray.
- A more powerful BMW XM model, the Label Red Limited Edition, will also be available with massive powertrain upgrades as well as unique interior and exterior design elements such as special paint, wheels, upholstery and interior trim.

Interior Design
- Inside, everything about the hybrid sports car’s cabin appears to be high-end, including comfortable M Lounge seats, a gorgeous curved infotainment screen, and premium headlining with luxurious leather upholstery throughout and some chrome fiber elements.
- There’s also a three-spoke sports steering wheel, optional vintage-look leather upholstery and carbon trim, and the sports car uses the latest version of iDrive 8 and comes with a head-up display as standard.
- It comes with two rows of seats and there is no third row, and instead of the large panoramic sunroof, a more impressive roof can be obtained with a distinctive Alcantara suede roof lining, 3D design and LED lighting used for dramatic effect that increases the beauty of the cabin.
- A large, curved display extending over two-thirds of the instrument cluster includes an infotainment display with BMW iDrive 8 interface as well as a digital gauge cluster.
- In addition to additional features such as SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a powerful sound system, with the ability to connect to smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless systems as standard.
Mechanical specifications
- In terms of performance figures, the BMW XM is designed as a PHEV-hybrid in two main classes:
- The first is based on a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and it consists of a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 petrol engine with a capacity of 489 horsepower, connected to an electric motor (179 horsepower) that is charged by socket, the two engines working together produce a combined output of 653 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
- The car will also get a more powerful model later, which will bear the name Label Red, with an enhanced version of the powertrain, and the power will be greater than its share of 750 hp (550 kW) and the torque will reach 1000 Newton / meter (738 lb / ft), making it BMW’s most powerful hybrid SUV in the global market.
- The transmission is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with a new, advanced M xDrive all-wheel drive system.
- It’ll rely on a 25.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is good for about 30 miles of electric-only range per charge.
- The new car is capable of a net electric range of up to 50 miles (80 km) on a single electric charge, according to the WLTP European Test Cycle.
- It can also accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, and reach a top speed of 270 km/h with the optional package.
- It has an adaptive M sports suspension system that provides the highest levels of stability and maneuverability at high speeds, and a new braking system from the M section with the use of a rear electronic differential lock supported by steel coils.
BMW XM 2023 price
- As for the price of the SUV in the global market, it is expected that the price of the regular model will start from 160 thousand US dollars, and sales will start in the United States in early 2023.
- A more powerful and more expensive high-performance version is scheduled to be released next year known as the XM Label Red. With more than 735 hp, it will carry a significant premium over the regular model, and will cost about $ 185,000.
