The new electric MG4 is officially revealed before it reaches global markets

British automaker MG, a subsidiary of the Chinese group SAIC, is preparing to launch its upcoming electric car, called the MG 4 EV 2023, which is one of the models that fall into the category of electric family hatchbacks. Underneath the MG 5.

The MG4 is also the company’s third all-electric car. As part of the brand’s plans during the electric transition, we’ll learn about the price, specifications and release date during this report.

MG4 electric car

  • It is a five-door, zero-emission hatchback that has a dynamic design and spacious interior with a single-engine rear-wheel drive design.
  • As for the date of the appearance of the new car, it is expected that it will be put on sale in the UK market in September of this year 2022.
  • It competes directly with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volkswagen ID3 and Citroen e-C4.
  • It is built using the brand’s brand-new platform called MSP, which will form the backbone of the next generation of MG electric models that will use MSP architecture.
  • The new car is about 4,287 meters long, 1,836 meters wide and 1,506 meters high, and features an extended wheelbase of 2,700 meters, which promises plenty of interior space.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

  • The car’s exterior design appears very elegant and more aggressive, and looks completely different from any other member of the current MG lineup , thanks to the brand’s new design language that reflects an unfamiliar design identity.
  • It features a tapered front, grillless-free electric vehicle, and slim, sharp-looking headlights fitted with state-of-the-art LED technology.
  • It also has a sculpted side profile, with side windows attached to the rear window.
  • From the rear, it features an eye-catching full-width taillight strip under the glass, with the MG logo in the center, along with some LED brake lights.
  • The upper part is crowned with a split spoiler in two parts with an aluminum skid plate on the rear bumper.

Interior Design

  • As for the cabin, the new MG 4 EV offers a cabin with a more contemporary feel than other models in the MG range, as well as a two-tone interior.
  • The use of the new MSP platform appears to provide an exceptionally large and spacious interior for the car, as well as comfortable with two rows of seats equipped with heating and cooling.
  • A large central touch-screen infotainment screen is located above the floating-style center console, and a compact digital driver display is displayed behind the steering wheel in place of traditional analog dials.
  • We can see a new-look dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a pair of cup holders and other distinctive details that create an exclusive look.

ENTERTAINMENT AND FACILITIES

  • As for technology, communication and entertainment, it has wireless charging systems for phones, and voice control features.
  • In addition to features such as a large panoramic sunroof, a blind spot detection system to avoid accidents, light and rain sensors, and front and rear cameras.

  • The new MG 4 EV will be offered with a single electric motor located in the rear, producing 167 hp in the base version (51 kWh) and 201 hp (150 kW) in the 64 kWh model, with RWD.
  • It sprints from 0 to 62 mph in under eight seconds, with a top speed limited to 99 mph (160 km/h).
  • Energy will be extracted from two battery options, the first with a capacity of 51 kWh, and the second with a capacity of 64 kWh.
  • The smaller battery option can achieve an electric range of up to 218 miles (350 km) on a full charge (about the same range that the larger MG 5 gets).
  • Whereas the larger option supports a net electric range of 450 kilometers (281 miles) before it needs to be plugged in, based on the European WLTP test cycle, making it suitable for long-distance travel.

The price of the MG 4 EV model 2023

  • Pricing and specifications haven’t been confirmed yet, though, so it’s almost certain that the MG 4 will be cheaper than the MG 5 electric car.
  • Prices on the global market may start from £25,000 for versions with a smaller 51 kWh battery.
  • Versions with a larger 64kWh battery are likely to cost close to £30,000.
