With a V12 engine .. Mercedes unveils the super-luxury Maybach S-680 S-Class

Mercedes has officially unveiled the super luxury Maybach sedan with a V12 engine. The car, the main competitor to the Bentley W12, was announced last year shortly before the debut of the new S-Class. Last month, the manufacturer released a teaser for the upcoming novelty. Finally, the car was officially presented.

The debut of the sophisticated S 680 was timed to coincide with the centenary of the first independent Maybach model called the W3. which was produced from 1921 to 1926. During these five years, only 305 copies were released. None of them have survived to this day.

What information is available about the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 presented by the new photos?

There are still few details about the new Mercedes-Maybach S 680. The company released only a series of photos. The extra-long luxury sedan has the same sleek two-tone paint color and lots of chrome as the V8 unveiled in November 2020. But today’s debut features sleeker, multi-spoke edges.

A closer look reveals many distinctive features related to the standard Maybach S-Class. That there are V12 badges on the fenders and an S680 badge on the tailgate. It should be noted that the manufacturer used the name S680 before. There was a model of the previous generation produced in 2017 under the index S650. But it was produced in China, and had the name S680. The above indicates that it will have a 12-cylinder V12 engine.

Mercedes-Maybach S 680 V12 specifications

The manufacturer has not told us any information about the model’s specifications with this engine. However, the amount of horsepower in the engine is expected to start at “6.” Just for reference, the previous Maybach S650 delivered a whopping 621 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. It was powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0 liter engine.

Maybach is expected to receive the new Maybach S-Class with a 12-cylinder V12 engine with 4Matic all-wheel drive system. It is expected that in the near future, the manufacturer will reveal more detailed official information about its car. In the line-up, the new car joins the entry-level version recently launched in China, where the Maybach S-Class is offered with a six-cylinder engine only, reducing the transfer tax associated with larger engines in China.
