The Fiat Tipo is ready for a major renewal as part of the wider Stellantis range – and the company will take a decisive step in strengthening its range when it brings to the market the new family-owned Fiat Tipo in an updated version for 2025. As part of a plan launched by Olivier François, President of Fiat, who confirmed the launch of the brand Fiat A plan by Stellantis (which also includes major manufacturers such as Opel/Vauxhall, Citroën and Peugeot), the plan includes a focus on the development of the Tipo.

Considered by many to be a sleeping giant, the Italian brand has struggled over the past 15 years to justify the investment required to keep its small car range up to date. And that will change over the next four years, with models – including the reborn Punto and Panda – already designed and grounded in a product plan that extends well beyond the Fiat 500.

François said: “What I love about Fiat is that we have two missions: urban mobility and affordable family transport. Also the second thing we focus on is the space, the cabin, we are going to offer a space that offers value for money, and this is ingenuity when it comes to the little things that simplify your life while using the car for the whole family. François continued: “This is the C-Class [hatchback family] that we see in 2025. We need to replace the Tipo. With a new body style, he’ll transcend traditional divisions, as everyone else does now. So it will be a small SUV, but in an innovative way.”

Our exclusive images reinterpret the Fiat Tipo as a family-sized crossover, incorporating cues from some of the most recent Fiat cars sold on the global market. This is because the new model must be sold worldwide, appealing to customers everywhere from Turkey to Latin America including the Arab and Gulf markets, and the traditional family hatchback markets in Europe. This means that it will arrive in three bodies: a traditional hatchback, a saloon, and an estate.

“There is no way that Fiat can become as consistently profitable as it is now, but our plan is to become increasingly profitable, by integrating our group in Europe and South America,” said François. He pointed out, “The car that we will launch in 2023 is expected to be an electric 500X EV that will remain European, which means that it will be limited to the European market.

Francois continued explaining the Fiat plan, stressing that the Italian brand will start in the years 2024, 2025 and 2026; Horizontally reconsidering frozen cars in design and so on, making sure they will have one set. They can be electric in one area and combustion engined in another, with only slight differentiation allowing the company to make huge volumes on the same base.
