The new big Toyota Land Cruiser 300 with a 6-cylinder engine line and smart new suspension technology.. for the Middle East
Toyota has unveiled an all-new version of its large off-road SUV, the Land Cruiser 300, in the Middle East.
Dubbed the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 , the new model is the first all-new iteration of Toyota’s iconic go-anywhere vehicle since the 200-class was introduced in 2007. The 300 gets a different platform called GA-F, new six-cylinder V6 engines, and a crankcase. 10-speed automatic gearbox, and redesigned “brake” suspension.
The look is typical of the Land Cruiser 300, meaning the vehicle is imposing and powerful, clearly designed with the off-road approach and departure angles in mind . On the other hand, the cabin has a more sophisticated appearance, with a widescreen infotainment system that includes integration with a quality smartphone, and comes with claims of plastic materials and more attractive finishes.
The new vehicle marks the first time that Toyota’s TNGA platform – the modular architecture that forms the basis of most of the company’s models these days – has been used to support a body-on-frame vehicle. The two new six-cylinder engines, both twin-turbocharged, come with a choice of either a 3.5-liter petrol or a 3.3-liter diesel. Toyota claims that both offer better driveability and efficiency than a conventional V8 engine.
Toyota has not released any performance or efficiency numbers, but the company says that when paired with the new 10-speed automatic gearbox, the engines achieve economic gains and CO2 emissions about 10 percent less over the outgoing Land Cruiser, and weight-saving measures help increase The agility and speed of the cruiser as well, given that the new model is about 200 kg lighter than the previous model.
The Land Cruiser 300 is designed to be off-road enough to justify its name, while offering an easier driving experience both on and off-road. It features what Toyota calls “the world’s first electronic dynamic suspension system” and is likely an evolution of old car technology, but now uses processing power to help the system adapt more quickly to changing surfaces.
A camera-based terrain monitoring system will allow a Land Cruiser 300 passenger to see the road conditions surrounding the vehicle, while the vehicle’s own technology will judge the quality of the road surface and change the vehicle’s operating mode accordingly.
Land Cruiser 300 will land in the USA first
The Land Cruiser 300 is set to go on sale later this summer , but the choice of first place, is no accident. That’s because the car is designed for customers outside of Western Europe. Toyota also has no plans to introduce it in Europe and America, particularly since the company recently introduced the most fuel-efficient Hybrid Highlander as the flagship of its European SUV lineup.
