Best car care tips

Auto mechanics are like doctors – wherever they go, people ask them for free advice. Here are some of the best maintenance tips to keep your car running smoothly.
Cabin
Air Filter A clogged air filter causes extra load on your car’s air conditioning system and reduces heat in winter.
Replace your filter at least once a year.
Change the coolant
Change the coolant every 38,000 kilometers (24,000 miles) for a pure coolant, or 161,000 kilometers (100,000 miles) for a long-life coolant.
If you continue to drive and the coolant is contaminated, the car’s radiator, heater core and water pump should be replaced.
To test your coolant, set the digital voltmeter to the lowest DC setting , and dip the positive terminal into the fluid.
Touch the negative terminal of the voltmeter to the negative terminal of the battery and increase the engine speed to 2000 rpm.
If the reading is 0.4 volts or more, your coolant is hot.
Change the dimmer lens
. Purchase a headlight restoration kit at any auto parts store and follow the installation and polishing instructions.
Glued or slow-moving windows
give each window channel a dot of dry Teflon or silicone lubricant.
Then run the window up and down a few times to make the lubricant spread.
Avoid icing wipers
Install winter wiper blades.
Rubber part prevents ice from forming on the wipers.
Clogged radiator fins

  • Disconnect the electrical connections from the electric cooling fans and remove the fasteners.
  • Lift the entire fan assembly.
  • Then use a garden hose and nozzle to spray the back of the cooler.
  • This will expel the impurities sticking to the front side and provide better cooling.
  • Reinstall the fan assembly.

Preventing ABS Code Errors The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS ) sensors contain magnets that can pick up metal road debris. Use a rag to wipe the sensor off any time the wheels are running. Corrosion of Battery Terminals Corrosion adds an extra load to your charging system and can malfunction in computer-controlled systems. Cleaning is the cheapest insurance against electrical problems. Exhaust rumble or rust in the exhaust pipe Replace the exhaust clamps at the first sign of rust or rattling. They are cheap and easy to install, and protect other exhaust components from vibration damage.
