How the speedometer works :
The speed is read by a cable connected to the gearbox of the transmission in the car. Where the meter measures the change in the electrical impulses inside the gearbox.
Then the speed indicator measures the time between each signal, and by that the speed of the car is measured.
There is an additional cable attached to the car tires that measures the distance the car travels, and then transmits the data to the kilometer counter. From here the actual velocity is calculated by distance and pulses.
Hearing a sound from the dashboard
This is the initial sign that the speed cable is about to be damaged. This sound is faint. This sound accompanies a malfunction of the instrument cluster. Here the speedometer must be checked.
The speedometer is not fixed.
All the gauges work in the same way, whether the car is old or new, as the indicator goes up and down according to the speed the car is traveling in.
When the speedometer jumps from 40 km to 50 km without passing through the inter-speed, if this happens, it indicates that there is a fault in the speedometer cable or that the acceleration sensor is no longer sending signals accurately.
This problem is easy to solve by a mechanic who will change the speed cable or the sensors.
