2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE debuts with 677 hp in boost mode

The Mercedes-AMG EQE runs standard all-wheel drive, and reaches 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

In the old days (like, like, a couple of years ago), the new AMG model from Mercedes-Benz meant a rough engine and soundtrack that some considered bad, and others saw it as a properly tuned music from Mercedes’ mighty V8.

Today , with its 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE, the German manufacturer announces that electric power is slowly replacing internal combustion, but with up to 677 hp (505 kW) available from two AMG-tuned electric motors, the all-new Mercedes-AMG EQE will transform Truly the familiar form of combustion engine sounds. For quieter cars.

Extra power remains the focal point of the AMG, and it’s not just a case of increased power. For lower trims, the AMG EQE will get a standard version of the 4Matic + all-wheel drive via twin engines, tuned by AMG with modified windings, and other electric technologies that make it capable of producing even more power. As standard, the combined 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE engines produce 617 hp (460 kW) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm) of instantaneous torque.

The optional Dynamic Plus package also adds a boost function that delivers 677 horsepower. Torque also increases to 738 lb-ft (1,001 Nm), although Mercedes says the boost is only temporary. In the enhanced 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE, there is enough power to reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds using race start mode.

The motors draw their power from a 90.6 kWh battery. Without boost, the electrified AMG accelerates in an estimated 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds. The listed top speed is 137 mph in Class One. And with the Dynamic Plus package, that tops out at 149mph and it’s certainly fast, but it won’t reach the open speeds of German motorways like its internal combustion predecessors.

When it comes to the suspension, AMG makes several changes to the front and rear multi-link setup in the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE , creating the AMG Ride Control+ system. Wheel mounts, suspension links and sway bars have been improved for added rigidity. At the rear, the rear axle mount is attached to the body with a stiffer bearing and shorter travels, creating a more direct feel according to Mercedes-AMG. The adaptive, adjustable assists with two valves reduce pressure more precisely compared to the standard EQE.

  • The upgrades, working in tandem with the AMG Dynamic Select driving modes, allow the AMG EQE to sit just under half an inch for improved handling and aerodynamics.
  • Standard rear axle steering also aids in maneuverability and stability,
  • Various driving modes can limit power to facilitate EQE management in challenging situations. For example, in Slippery mode, you’ll get a total of just 308 hp (230 kW) from both engines.
  • The larger brakes with six-piston brakes and 16-inch discs at the front also help with stability.

All this performance has an impact on the range. Mercedes says the AMG EQE has a provisional WLTP range of 276 to 322 miles, well below the 410-mile number advertised for the previously standard model and features:

  • The 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE can be charged with a fast charger of up to 170 kW
  • It regains 112 miles of range in 15 minutes.
  • Minor external changes affect the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE range as well,
  • Balance aggressiveness and downforce with minimal aerodynamic drag.
  • Black grille with vertical bars and AMG badging,
  • You’ll find a black front splitter with wraparound air vents
  • Black bottom side panels
  • New rear spoiler and wheels.

Inside, you’ll find the expected AMG upgrades in the form of sport seats, a new flat-bottom steering wheel and dark surfaces with contrasting red trim. A hyperscreen extending the length of the cabin is still an option, and of course you’ll find AMG-specific functions in the premium MBUX audio system. You’ll also find AMG-specific acoustics within the cabin, designed to excite driving excitement. A special set of synthetic sounds, literally called the AMG sound experience, will change depending on the selected driving mode, and there is also a custom sound when using the race start mode.

Although it revealed the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE Mercedes is not ready to talk about pricing or when the car will be available at this point, but the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE will be sold in the US and other markets around the world.

Price: When the 2023 Mercedes-EQ EQE arrives for sale in mid-2022, we expect this new electric midsize sedan to have a starting price of about $70,000. When the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE arrives for sale in early 2023 with lots more power and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, we expect it to be priced at about $90,000.
