Unveiling the GR Sport version of the Toyota RAV4 2023

The Japanese company, Toyota, officially unveiled the 2023 GR Sport version of its Toyota RAV4 2023 GR Sport, in Europe, and it is a new sports version with aesthetic and mechanical updates.

It is classified as a compact crossover SUV, and it is the highest category with sporty performance because it has a sporty performance thanks to mechanical modifications and a retuned suspension system, and it also received some moderate aesthetic updates for the exterior.

The new sports version of the Toyota RAV4 features a comprehensive set of improvements, exterior features, interior additions, suspension modification with stiffer springs and shock absorber settings in addition to new safety features, which we will get to know during this report.

Toyota RAV4 2023 GR Sport Edition

  • It is a sporty version of the mid-size SUV, equipped with more aesthetic changes and exterior features with a sports suspension system. It also offers some other improvements such as an infotainment upgrade and Toyota Connected Services as well.
  • The brand had introduced the GR Sport model through a variety of its models, including the C-HR, Hilux, Yaris Cross, and others, and now they are joined by the Toyota RAV4, which got a new sporty look in Europe.
  • The international launch of the new Toyota in Europe is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022 as the 2023 model year.

Specifications of Toyota RAV4 2023 GR Sport Edition

  • The sports version of the Toyota RAV 2023 received light exterior improvements and additions that distinguish it from the standard version, most notably: many thin exterior GR Sport badges scattered around the car.
  • It also features piano black trim for the wheel arches, side sills and boot lid garnish.
  • Aesthetic modifications at the front include updated fog lamps with more prominent slits, and a new front spoiler that features a dark silver color on the Hybrid and a bronze color on the PHEV.
  • It rides on unique 19-inch, polished aluminum alloy wheels that are designed using “Ultra-Fine Line-cutting Technology” and are finished in gloss black with pinstripe detailing and a 5-spoke design.

Interior Design

  • All the way to the interior of the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport, which combines modernity and luxury with the “GR” logo that adorns the headrests, floor mats and steering wheel.
  • The interior of the RAV4 GR Sport will feature exclusive front sport seats upholstered in suede leather with faux leather bolsters, the front seats are electrically adjustable, and the driver’s seat also has memory.
  • The new trim comes exclusively with silver contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel and gear knob, and bronze door and steering wheel inserts.
  • Interior features also include metal trim on the doors and steering wheel, a standard panoramic head-up display, power seat adjustment, and a panoramic perimeter monitor.
  • With regard to the entertainment side, the latest Toyota 2023 cars received updates that include a standard infotainment system with a 10.5-inch central touch screen, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
  • The infotainment system runs on the company’s new T-Connect software and includes connected navigation and voice assistant with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Security and safety systems

  • In terms of safety, the new car is equipped with an upgraded suite of safety and driver assistance features, which include as standard a new emergency steering assist system, a pre-collision warning system and an enhanced independent emergency braking system with a 360-degree camera.

Mechanical specifications

  • The new version will be available in Europe with mild hybrid (hybrid) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engines with all-wheel drive.
  • The GR Sport version gets mechanical tweaks for “enhanced handling” and “a more engaging driving experience” but no extra power.
  • New mechanical updates include a retuned suspension, stiffer springs and sports shock absorbers for increased grip on uneven surfaces, which Toyota says “enables better handling” and steering system updates for a more responsive driving experience.
  • However, the GR Sport version won’t gain any additional performance from its hybrid drivetrain setup, combined power output will likely remain at 160kW.

Finally, Toyota made it clear that the new version will be launched before the end of this year. Unfortunately, we do not have official information to decide whether or not it can be obtained in our markets.
