Tamiya Wild One Max 6

Unleash the big kid inside you with the $8,250 Tamiya Wild One driveable car

The Little Car Company has started to make a big name for itself by creating fully licensed, drivable replicas of cars such as the Bugatti Type 35 and Aston Martin DB5. Finally the Tamiya Wild One but for its latest venture, the LLC has switched to the XXL and built an 8/10 version of one of the most iconic R/C cars of the 1980s. And her name is Tamiya Wild One.

The original
Tamiya Wild One (group number 58050 for Tamiya geeks) was released in 1985 and, along with Tamiya buggy groups like the Frog and Hornet, remains one of the best-loved R/C vehicles.
It was even given a second edition in 2012, bringing ’80s-style R/C fun to a whole new generation of fans.
Now Tamiya Wild One and The Little Car Company have teamed up to create Wild One Max.
It’s battery powered, just like the original, and you can still build it at home.
But at approximately 138 inches (3.5 m) long, and weighing more than 550 lbs (250 kg), you’ll need a large, sturdy kitchen table for this set.
Tamiya Wild One Structure and Building
The structure and construction of the Tamiya-Wild-One-Max-1-1 Buggy
The Max is built around an aerospace steel chassis with coil-over suspension, hydraulic Brembo brakes and 15-inch off-road tires.
The 2 kWh battery gives you a range of 25 miles, and the rear-mounted
electric motor sends 4 kW (5.5 hp) of electric muscle to the rear wheels to push the limit to a speed of 30 mph (48 km/h). ) .
The Tamiya Wild One’s body and roof are made of durable and lightweight polycarbonate, and a driver figure is included to bring the cockpit to life.
Ribbed front tires provide directional control and rear tires feature a tread block pattern for high grip, allowing you to enjoy dynamic off-road action.

That might not sound like much power, but we’re talking about a machine that weighs less than half a Caterham Seven and doesn’t have windshields or doors to reduce the feeling of speed.
And having driven the only slightly lighter Bugatti Baby with the same drivetrain, I can assure you it veers off the line smartly, although I certainly wouldn’t imagine driving on the highway.
However, many people will look at the Max and wonder why the visually similar Ariel Nomad has 230 horsepower.
The truth is that Max is just a bloated game, not a serious Baja weapon.
But for those who want more energy,

The Little Car Company says it is working on battery and engine upgrades that will enhance both range and performance.
Other upgrades being considered have included more serious racing belts, brake and suspension packages, as well as a Tarmac package consisting of road-biased tires and mudguards.
But the Tamiya Wild One is the most interesting option, the Road Legal package.
Including parts like brake lights, turn signals and mirrors, it makes your Max comply with European ATV and US neighborhood electric vehicle legislation, so you can use it on the road.
According to Tamiya Wild One, the Wild One Max should cost you around $8,250 (£6,000) when markets hit in 2022, which will make it much more affordable than Baby Bugatti, which can cost up to $70,000.
