The new Buick WILDCAT electric car

In a press release, US brand Buick has given a first look at its new electric coupe concept, called the 2022 Buick Wildcat Ev, classified as a 2+2 four-door coupe, giving us an exciting look at what the future holds for this car. The iconic brand as it transitions into the all-electric future.

The vehicle was created to express an entirely new design language for the brand, offers a glimpse into Buick’s innovative design direction and examines the design language and technology of future production models. Ultium batteries from General Motors.

Besides revealing the new concept, Buick also made some other high-profile announcements. The company announced that it would switch to electric-only production in North America by 2030, five years before its parent company, General Motors, planned to abandon internal combustion engines for good.

Buick explained that its brand plan fits with General Motors’ electric transformation, and also announced that the first all-electric car will debut in 2024 and bear the name Electra.

Features of the new Buick WILDCAT electric car

  • The car is a full-size coupe, characterized as a futuristic vehicle with an attractive design, with a strong and expressive presence, which highlights the electric vision of the brand.
  • It’s likely based on General Motors’ Ultium EV platform, which new electric cars from GMC and Cadillac already rely on.
  • Buick WILDCAT is one of the oldest automobile brands in the world, having been founded in 1899 by David Dunbar Buick.
  • The brand is owned by General Motors and is marketed as one of the premium brands from the company along with the other three brands namely Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC.
  • Outside of the United States, the brand operates in a few countries around the world, including China, Canada, and Mexico.
  • The brand currently offers only four models in the US that are all gas-powered, but that will drop to just 3 when the Encore is dropped in 2023, all of which are crossovers or SUVs.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

  • Focusing on the concept’s exterior, the debut revealed, as the exterior design comes with a strong and expressive design language with a sleek look with a nimble coupe design and low ground clearance and has really grabbed our attention.
  • The concept gives a very coupe-like appearance and the car is clearly a complete revolution in design compared to current Buick models, featuring a sharper and more modern look than conventional Buicks.
  • Buick previewed the new coupe front, where the front end shows a sharp design with some wrinkles along with the new logo.
  • Buick WILDCAT features a significantly updated Buick logo for the first time in 32 years, announced by the company to celebrate the new electric age. The new logo will be installed on the front of Buick cars from 2023.
  • The new logo still retains the company’s traditional three shields and also retains the red, white and blue patriotic color scheme for the three shields, but in the redesigned version, they are arranged horizontally rather than diagonally in a more modern way.
  • We can see that it features compact and ultra-slim LED headlights with an evolutionary style.
  • In addition to a new trapezoidal grille and a long front hood, along with the sharp windshield.
  • From the side, the car also features a unique door system Buick calls semi-swinging that allows easy entry.
  • The images show the rear of the car, which has sporty blade-shaped taillights embedded in the roof sail panels that enhance aerodynamics, and horizontal lights that blend neatly into the headlights at the front.

Interior Design

  • Buick has four seats inside with a bold design, and contrasting colors and numerous design elements in the cabin add to the interior more liveliness.
  • The cockpit-style seats come with old-fashioned headrests, a prominent center console and a slim dashboard design.
  • In terms of technology, it features two digital screens, with artificial intelligence technologies and biometrics that can detect anxious drivers through a high driver’s heart rate, and automatically adjust the car’s settings to calm the driver, by activating Zen Mode that dims the cabin lights, activating massage seats and deploying Soothing aromatic scents.

  • Regarding the powertrain, Buick has not revealed any technical data or details of the powertrain, as it is still just a concept, but it has confirmed that it will be an electric car.
