The Chinese company, BYD, which specializes in car manufacturing, announced that it has already stopped manufacturing traditional gasoline-powered cars as of last March.
According to what was reported by Xinhua, the Chinese company, BYD , a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, will focus its business on electric and fully electric hybrid cars during the coming period.
BYD cancels production of gasoline cars and turns to electric and hybrid cars
In a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last week, BYD explained that BYD is canceling production of gasoline cars and will focus in the future on hybrid and pure electric cars.
The leading Chinese company also stated that it will not stop manufacturing cars whose engines depend on gasoline, but will work on manufacturing cars with small engines of high efficiency, such as those in hybrid cars that connect to electricity.
With regard to existing customers (owners of traditional vehicles), the Chinese company BYD stated that it will continue to provide more fully enhanced and supported services, which include after-sales services, in addition to providing them with spare parts throughout the life of the vehicle.
It is noteworthy that this decision is in response to Beijing’s pledge to encourage consumption of clean (green) energy and to reduce the risk of global carbon emissions by 2030.
BYD sales during the last month
Regarding BYD’s sales of new energy vehicles during the month of March, the latest reports stated that BYD sold approximately 104,338 passenger cars, including 50,674 hybrid cars powered by electricity, and 53,664 pure electric cars, registering the highest Its absolutely monthly sales.
With this statistic, some began comparing BYD’s sales to Tesla’s car sales during the first quarter of 2022, as Tesla also achieved huge sales during the first quarter of this year, exceeding the barrier of 360,000 cars, which makes there is great competition between the two companies.
In conclusion, it should be noted that the Chinese company BYD is one of the companies joining the global campaign to get rid of cars based on high-combustion engines by 2040, with the participation of companies: (Volvo – General Motors – Ford – Mercedes-Benz- Jaguar Land Rover).
