Apple’s electric car is expected to go into production by 2024

A report published on Reuters revealed that the technology giant Apple is in talks with two Chinese companies to set up a battery factory in the United States. The two companies involved are CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology) and BYD (China’s EV manufacturer). As quoted by Reuters, multiple informed sources.

It is reported that Jared Bernstein, a senior economic adviser to the White House, has confirmed the news of contacts between Apple and Chinese companies, and Apple has stipulated several conditions for Chinese companies, one of which is that Chinese companies build a battery factory in the United States.
Details about Apple’s electric car are scarce, but the tech giant is said to want to carve out a space in the EV market in the coming years. Last we learned, Apple was in talks with LG and Magna to manufacture the electric powertrain in Canada.

It is worth noting that BYD is one of the largest car manufacturers in China , and its electric car Han occupies an advanced position in the sales of electric cars in Europe, and BYD recently announced the release of a new luxury car with a different name and brand, will this brand be Apple, Will the talks deal with joint ventures, or will they be limited to the supply of powertrain equipment that Apple is looking for?

CATL is also known to be a supplier of batteries to Tesla. However, Cattel is said to be reluctant to set up a plant in the United States due to the ever-increasing political tensions between the United States and China. We are waiting for more news about those talks to unfold over the next few weeks or even the next few months.
