Everything is black in the BMW X5 except for kidney.. only 350 cars will be produced from it

The BMW X5 has been a huge commercial success since its inception in 1999, and is getting a special edition for both Europe and the United States to enhance the appeal of the luxury SUV. While the images show the hot M50i destined for Europe, North America will get a special version of the lower xDrive40i technology of which about 350 units are planned.
Features of the BMW X5 Special Edition
So, what sets the new Black Vermilion apart? Well, apart from the pronounced red vertical bars of the kidney grille on the front of the BMW X5, the luxury mid-size SUV sports a BMW Individual Frozen Black paint job. The black theme continues on the grille surround and is complemented by 22-inch dark gray wheels with a matte finish.

The brake calipers are painted red and are part of an extended range of M products, including the M Sport package, the Adaptive M suspension and also the M sport exhaust. However, the latter is only available for the Euro-spec M50i destined for Europe, as the US-spec xDrive40i loses this feature. To sweeten the knot, BMW is also putting adaptive LED headlights with laser technology in the BMW X5.

The Black Vermilion Special Edition upgrades the list of standard equipment inside as the X5 gets a heated steering wheel, head-up display, remote engine start and Harman Kardon audio system. The limited-running SUV also has a premium glass gear lever and start button, along with the M-branded Alcantara headliner. It’s not available on the xDrive40i package – which means the Alcantara won’t be available in the US version – and the leather dashboard and carbon-fibre interior trim give the European version an upscale look.
Contrast between red and black for all copies

All cars will get this look of predominantly black interior and exterior with red contrast accents, as well as the “Edition” logo on the cup holder lid. It will cost you $82,300 (plus $995 for destination) and the European version is about $20,000 more expensive than the US version with the standard xDrive40i it’s based on. Instead, that amount of money will buy you the more powerful M50i available in the US for just an extra $500, running on this special edition.

Those interested in getting behind the wheel of the X5 Black Vermilion should know that BMW will begin production at its Spartanburg plant in September for the US-spec version and be completed in December.

The appearance of the special version of the BMW X5 came a few days after the appearance of spy shots of the BMW 7 Series, and other models are expected to appear in the coming days for all fans of the German manufacturer.
