The next generation of the BMW 7 will be the ultimate sedan with a range of 100 km.

The upcoming BMW 7 Series is currently undergoing road tests, ahead of its planned release in 2022. Electric car web reader Sebastian P discovered one of the prototypes being tested on German roads, with a sentence written on the bumper on the rear bumper: “Hybrid Test Vehicle” means “Hybrid Test Vehicle”.

A hybrid concept car, this is how BMW wrote on its car

It is likely that this concept car will be one of the next generation of BMW cars that will bear the BMW 7 brand for 2022. It is likely that the car that Sebastian spied on will be the plug-in hybrid alternative from that well-established brand, which is expected to provide a range in a single charge that can be swallowed. 100 km of driving range in this zero-emissions version for the first time in the history of a BMW.

Hybrid electric motors offer the best of both worlds. The first option is the electric motor only, which can be charged from an external source, and when the electricity range runs out, the gasoline engine enters, to take over all the tasks of the car,
That might sound nice but the problem is that the electric range that the manufacturers provide is limited, and they can’t be relied upon alone in all scenarios.
While studies show that most of the average person’s daily commute around town is barely more than 20 miles, and car companies operate within that window at many times the range, we’re still in the early days of electric and electric cars.

We consider
plug-in hybrid vehicles to be a bridge for drivers to enter the world of electric vehicles.
As a lot of new electric car customers, some feel they should try this technology and its benefits, see how much electric range they need, or how often and where they can charge their car.
In the case of BMW, the geolocation technology eDrive Zones is designed to automatically recognize environmental zones and switch to pure electric driving mode.
And the BMW PHEV Hybrid can take full advantage of the advantages of urban consumption.

The BMW 330e and BMW 530e models feature the longest range electric hybrid vehicle “PHEV” from the
German manufacturer BMW , providing up to 61 km of pure electric range according to (WLTP) tests.
And it turns out that BMW is already working to increase this number significantly.

Peter Notta, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, confirmed in an interview with the
BMW Group Press last year that all future hybrid models from BMW will offer an electric range of up to 100 km, and that the company has already begun work to achieve this goal, but the reality is that The highest rating for the BMW 7 Series is 55 km in the 740e version, according to WLTP tests.
To reach a longer electric range, PHEVs will have to use large battery packs, which increases the weight of the car to become like the BMW 3rd or 4th generation series, which means it will become heavier and more expensive.

It may not be what we think and all of the upcoming BMW PHEV Hybrids can offer a pure electric range of 100 km.
BMW may be looking to launch the current BMW 750e as a hybrid model powered by a 3.0-liter V6 six-cylinder engine and electric motor to produce a combined output of more than 500 horsepower.
And since we expect this car to have the largest battery pack ever seen in a BMW hybrid, it could offer essentially (for the first time) 100km of electric range, before smaller models got the same specs.
Rival Mercedes is already offering a range of 100 km with the new generation of the S-branded PHEV hybrid class.
