Certainly, a large percentage of us have encountered the problem of running out of battery in his car, which becomes even worse if you fall into a secluded place and you are not familiar with how to charge the battery.
Here are five steps to getting up the car battery if it stops working:
1) Find a donor vehicle
It is better to search for a larger car with a powerful battery to charge it from it, put the other car in front of your car but without touching it, raise the hand brakes in the two cars, turn off the engines as well, and then extend the connection cables.
2) Locate the battery
Try to find the location of the battery, and inspect it first, as you may see some oil on it, which has eliminated the corrosion of the terminals. First, clean it with a clean cloth, then start preparing it safely for charging.
3) Attach cables
Ideally you should use a strong cloth, or something like that to hold the cables when connecting and also cut the cables, because during connection the cables can be very hot, and using thick cables is always best.
At each end of each cable, you will find two clamps, one black and the second red, connect the red clamp end to the positive (+) sign on the other battery, and connect the black clamp to the negative sign (-) on the other battery, and it is better to connect the positive body first to reduce the risk of shock.
And in the donor car, you need to attach the other black clamp to any chunky piece of metal that you can find in the car body, whether in the engine or in the car’s structural body, or more metal that catches your eye in the front of the car next to the motor.
4) Start testing the car
Turn on the donor car engine, leave it for a few minutes, and make your broken car charge a little from it, then make sure to stop the donor car, to start your car, and then turn on, if it did not start, start the other donor car for a few minutes, and allow the car to charge for some more minutes, And if it does not work after several attempts, you may have bigger battery problems and require a technician.
5) Recharge the battery
If your car starts working, disconnect it and separate the cables between the two cars and then put them in reverse order to the order at the top again, without allowing touching them, and leave the car running for 10 to 15 minutes to recharge the battery again, but you must be aware that it may disconnect you after a while.
And remember that the higher the engine revs, and the permanently increasing performance in the engine and gear as a whole, it will help you ensure that your battery is in good condition.
