Once again, spy photos of the new 2022 Ferrari Purosangue SUV

The Ferrari Purosangue will come as Ferrari’s first SUV next year and an early prototype has been discovered wearing some new parts.

Auto Express spy photographers captured the all-new Ferrari Purosangue SUV , which is the second time the cameras have seen it after the test tracks, but it was the first time it had been seen on public roads.

Debuting next year as the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX competitor, this revamp still uses a modified Maserati Levante body as its mask, but with a few other changes to our previously spied development car.

It seems that some of the front parts of the production car are now hidden under the mask, there is a slightly reshaped bumper and a pair of Ferrari Roma headlights instead of the standard Maserati units.

The Levante’s wheel arches have also been opened to clean the wider Purosangue platform and massive 23-inch wheels, behind which are a set of carbon-ceramic brakes. The rear bumper has been hacked to make room for the quad exhaust system.

These spies give few indications of what the final Ferrari Purosangue will look like, but these two images could point in the right direction. We expect the SUV to borrow some design elements from the Roma GT, while retaining the long bonnet, short tail and flared responses. However, the nose of the Ferrari SUV is likely to use the traditional radiator grille.

At the rear, the images highlight the presence of a practical hatchback, which could make the SUV more usable, providing a larger trunk and an easier loading lip – both factors that aren’t usually at the forefront of a Ferrari engineer’s mind. It is also likely to surpass the GTC4Lusso in terms of space and practicality.

The new 2022 Ferrari Purosangue: platform and engines

Ferrari has already confirmed that the Purosangue will be based on the same platform as the Roma GT. Michael Letters, chief technology officer of the Italian brand, explained: “In general, we will have two families of architecture, the front and rear engine families. And all of these thoughts were on our minds as we thought of Purosangue, and so on. “

Liter also mentioned that the SUV platform is capable of accepting V6, eight V8 or even twelve V12 engines, which indicates that the Ferrari Purosangue could be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and it is worth noting that this design is similar to that of the unit located in the SF-90 Stradale.

However, we expect the previous two units to be the most likely to get electrical assistance. While Ferrari will continue to develop its 6.5-liter V12 engine independently of the hybrid, the company’s engineers do not prefer to combine this heavy combustion engine with a heavier electric motor alongside an already heavy battery pack.

Ferrari ‘s chief marketing officer, Enrico Gallera , said: “Frankly speaking, converting a V12 engine to electric power often means making a big, heavy car. So electricity should ideally be paired with smaller motors.

Galera added: “The philosophy is to try to prepare by using different technologies in order to use them in proportion to the necessary development.” “That’s why we have a wide range of engines: V12, V8, and in the future we will have V6 engines.”

Spy videos about the Ferrari Purosangue have already started circulating on social media, some of them featuring a very distinctive 12-cylinder engine note. However, since the Purosangue will share its props with the Roma GT, we expect it will also be available with the 3.9-liter V8 turbocharged .

In the GT, the unit produces 612 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque, numbers that are likely to be consistent across the two models . And given the amount of extra space available in the Ferrari Purosangue’s body, Ferrari could switch away from the rear-engined Roma design and switch instead to an all-wheel drive system.

The new 2022 Ferrari Purosangue: market, pricing and release date

The new Ferrari Borosangoy will make its official debut next year. The brand’s marketers called it “FUV” (meaning “Ferrari’s Utility Vehicle”). We expect the Purosangue to be priced over £200,000 when orders finally open.

Along with the upcoming Aston Martin DBX, the Ferrari Purosangue enters a growing niche of SUVs with exorbitant price tags (expect to pay well over $300,000 for the Purosangue) and supercar pace.
