Like the Centoventi: All Fiats will only be electric by 2030

Fiat announced that it will move to an all-electric brand between 2025 and 2030, and the Italian manufacturer has confirmed its promise to provide its electric cars at a cost that does not exceed the cost of producing cars equipped with internal combustion engines . In the form of city cars like the 500E, and finally the Centovente.

With this, Fiat became the latest brand to signal its shift towards becoming completely zero-emissions by announcing that its lineup will be battery-electric only by 2030. In its statement, Fiat said: “Between 2025 and 2030, our range of products will gradually become all-electric. Just. For his part, the company’s president, Oliver Francois, described the transformation as a radical change for Fiat.

“It is our duty to bring to market electric cars that cost no more than those with an internal combustion engine, as quickly as possible, in line with lower battery costs,” Francois added.
As we explore sustainable mobility for all, this is our greatest project.

Fiat hasn’t confirmed which of the new cars will be electric, but has hinted that this next batch of all-electric products will see the brand stay in the core small car segments.
During an advertising conference for François, accompanied by the famous architect Stefano Boeri, together they presented a discussion entitled “Urban Mobility” and the positive impact that electric cars can have on air quality in cities.
They also indicated the need to change the architecture, and stressed the community’s needs for residential buildings built with private car charging points, as well as the adaptation of existing buildings.
In his speech, architect Bowery said, “When we consider that cities are responsible for more than 70 percent of carbon dioxide emissions, which are the root cause of global warming and emissions of pollutants that threaten our health, it is clear that cities are where change is most needed,”
Electric car concepts coming from Fiat
It is noteworthy that the Italian brand has so far presented us with two concepts for two electric car projects, on their way to showrooms, and under the slogan of the city car, Fiat recently launched the Fiat Centoventi model, which is currently under development, and is working in conjunction with the Fiat electric car that bears the name Fiat 500e. .

The Fiat Centoventi was revealed as a concept car at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and is on its way to showrooms, the company’s president confirmed.
Fiat has always focused on the inner city as I have noticed in many of its products, and it recently celebrated 120 years of the Fiat brand and also gave us a glimpse of a new small electric panda-inspired car.
Olivier Francois, Global Head of the Fiat Brand, told us that work is already underway to make the car a reality.

“In Geneva last year, we showed our other electric car, our urban baby, and we’re still working on it – it wasn’t just a flash of a show,” said
Francois. And through an unconventional approach with the prince – he means the car – the simple Centoventi, inspired in its design by the panda.”
On the outside, the Centoventi has a look that is a futuristic evolution of the Panda city car.
Design touches include chunky wheel arms and an overall boxy look, and true to the concept, the Centoventi features an interchangeable plastic body and roof panels that allow buyers to change the car’s appearance to suit their tastes.
The nose also features a multi-bar grille inspired by the original Panda.

The Centoventi will almost certainly adopt the all-new architecture that was debuted in the latest Fiat 500e electric car.
Francois added: “When you invest in a new platform, which is a completely new electric architecture, it means that it is not intended for one car, so you will see it in other cars.
It will be used to get the most out of the investment, and it will also be used between nameplates and brands.”

Fiat is unlikely to produce those side doors in the Centoventi concept, but they do open up to reveal what Fiat describes as an ‘antiseptic’ interior.
Overall, this streamlined space features the driver’s seat, rear seat, simple dashboard and a large mounting bracket where the passenger seat naturally sits.
The multi-purpose carrier is designed to allow the installation of different units, whether it is a passenger seat, storage basket, baby car seat or even a pet carrier.
In addition, the Centoventi also included the ability to change seat fabrics so that owners can customize and update their vehicles during their ownership.

For the dashboard, Fiat has created a “plug and play” system that allows owners to install a different set of equipment to suit their needs.
The dashboard features a system of perforations that can accommodate additional storage units, cup holders, and cases for smartphones and other devices.
There is also an option to fit different sized tool kits.
The standard digital screen appears as a pouch in front of the steering wheel, but Fiat will also offer a super-sized 20-inch screen called the Lingotto (named after Fiat’s famous Turin factory) and the screen fills the full width of the dashboard area.
On both sides of the vehicle’s length, the doors have a choice of different storage options or molded armrests as well.

Fiat is using the Centoventi concept to further its ambition to make electric drives available to the masses.
When the concept was unveiled in Geneva, it had a battery capable of providing a modest 60-mile range.
But with the ability to swap and add battery packs, Fiat claims the range can be boosted up to 300 miles.
Additionally, the concept will allow batteries to be added at a Fiat dealership in less than 5 minutes, while an easily accessible battery pod under the passenger compartment allows for quick battery changes for those in a hurry.

Despite being just a concept, the Centoventi offers a fascinating vision of the future Fiat city cars.
With this model and 500e already on the way, as well as the confirmation of the link with Apple, it will be interesting to see how many concept car innovations will eventually be produced.
These are the facts of the press conference held by Fiat Global President and Engineer Boerry to present Fiat’s transformation plan for electric cars designed for cities

EVs now represent about 2% of total global vehicle sales and will be about 24% of total sales by 2030, it forecast. Biden has called for $174 billion in government spending to boost EVs, including $100 billion in consumer incentives
