Toyotas patented

Toyota’s patented Lexus IS-F V8 twin-turbo engine is on the road

It may not have the Japanese brand’s logo on the Lexus IS-F V8, as it turns out.

Toyota isn’t focusing on V8s in any of its cars, as much as it used to be putting it in. The current Lexus LS, which was equipped with the company’s six-cylinder V6 engine only, but is now (supported by either turbochargers or hybrid),

Lexus may have an eight-cylinder engine invented by Toyota

It is rumored that the next generation Toyota Tundra may ditch the 5.7-liter V8 in favor of a twin-size V6 as well. However, we’ve heard a lot about the arrival of a twin-turbocharged V8 engine to be added to the performance  oriented Lexus IS-F models.

It is concerned with the strength and performance of the car, as revealed by our sources, and it appears from a recently discovered patent from 2020 obtained by Toyota.

Toyota filed a patent claim (first discovered by a member of a forum known as GR86.com in September 2020, after we heard development of the Lexus LC F had been halted. The invention caught the eye,

The patent features many revealing graphics, which betray the engine’s hot V-shape design, as both turbochargers are located at the sides between the cylinder banks, reducing lag and improving throttle response.

Details in the patent also indicate that a single-turbo layout is also possible, so Toyota could theoretically offer two different versions of the engine depending on varying energy and efficiency requirements. We were expecting the twin-turbo engine to boast at least 600 horsepower (447 kW).

Simply filing a patent does not guarantee that Toyota will introduce the engine in any of its products, but it is still likely to appear in the next generation of Lexus’ high-performance vehicles, including the LS F and LC F.

This would give the Lexus sub-brand the competition with the BMW M which is a leading high-tech engine, and would also explain the current IS 500 engine why was not offered inside the F model which was described as full-pulse despite its massive 472 hp (352 hp). kW) – Lexus wanted to leave some room at the top of the new lineup so it could add the upcoming V8 turbo engine.

The new engine may not be limited to the luxury brand Toyota either. It could appear under a high-performance off-road version of the next Tundra, allowing the pickup to rival the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX.

Such a machine could help Toyota reclaim its dominance in the Baja 1000, which it emphasized in the 1990s with Evan “Ironman” Stewart behind the wheel of a TRD-designed Trophy truck. Whatever the case,

Hopefully, Toyota will allow this engine to spawn its lineup somewhat, and avoid the bummer that was Cadillac’s short-range blackwing twin-turbo twin-turbo engine.

Toyota hasn’t made any official announcements about the details of the engine or its expected market arrival, but we expect it to arrive in time for the expected revamp of the Lexus LC for 2023.
