Four months after its official presentation in March, the updated GMC Terrain was officially announced in Mexico, the only country where the model is currently manufactured. General Motors has just confirmed that the 2022 GMC Terrain will arrive in the Mexican market later this year with significant design updates and distinctive trim levels that will make it stand out in its segment.
The updated GMC Terrain marks the fifth year of the second-generation crossover model, and includes a fundamental transformation inspired by the latest developments in GMC’s design language . In addition, the brand’s entry-level car will expand its range in Mexico by adding two models while increasing its technological and safety features.

“The GMC Terrain is proudly manufactured in Mexico and its quality has been recognized by GMC customers around the world,” said Wilberto Del Angel, Marketing Director of General Motors’ GMC subsidiary in Mexico , in a statement. “For 2022, it will include significant improvements and innovations in the design, equipment and trim levels of the GMC Terrain, and we are certain that this updated model will cement the brand’s compact SUV position, making it stand out in its highly competitive segment.”

“The main new aspect of the updated 2022 GMC Terrain, both in Mexico and in other markets, is the introduction of the AT4 trim level for the first time in the model’s history.” In addition to the now line-up Denali, the new 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 has a unique look that includes chrome accents, a black wheel with off-road tires, as well as standard all-wheel drive and a steel front panel.

Although the final crossover lineup was not announced in Mexico, General Motors has hinted at a Black Edition version in the Latin country, as a domestic variant of the Elevation Edition, as is the case with the GMC Acadia. All versions will arrive with a generous list of technology features and safety tools, led by the company’s latest generation infotainment system that integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with Amazon Alexa.

The updated 2022 GMC Terrain will be available in Mexico during the last quarter of the year , aiming to improve its position in the country’s growing compact crossover segment. All details regarding trim levels, configurations and pricing for the 2022 GMC Terrain for the Mexican market will be announced closer to its launch date.
